  • Patent number: 5516509
Abstract: A clear, photocurable coating composition to be applied over wet nail polish on a nail for binding with the wet nail polish upon exposure to ultraviolet light, consisting of: between 5% and 50% by weight of a film-forming polymer selected from the group consisting of:i) cellulose estersii) acrylic polymers, between 2% and 15% by weight of a photoinitiator selected from the group consisting of:i) benzophenoneii) alkylphenyl ketone, andiii) cyclohexylphenyl ketone;and between 40% and 85% by weight of a photoreactive monomer selected from the group consisting of methacrylic acid esters.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 5407666
Abstract: A photocurable coating composition to be applied directly onto a nail surface and is rapidly curable upon exposure to ultraviolet light, comprising between 5% and 65% by weight of a film-forming polymer selected from the group consisting essentially of:i) cellulose derivativesii) acrylic polymers;between 2% and 20% by weight of a photoinitiator selected from the group consisting essentially of:i) acetophenoneii) benzophenoneiii) alkylphenyl ketoneiv) cyclohexylphenyl ketone;and between 10% and 90% by weight of a photoreactive monomer selected from the group consisting essentially of:i) methacrylic acid estersii) diesters of methacrylic acid, where the percentages by weight are based on the composition total weight.

  • Patent number: 5079179
Abstract: A GaAs circuit structure is described which interposes a Langmuir-Blodgett (L-B) layer between the substrate and a conductive contact. The thickness of the layer is controlled to determine the operating characteristics of the device. The head group of the L-B molecule is chosen so that it passivates the surface states of the particular GaAs substrate being used. Certain preferred acids and amino head groups are disclosed. The L-B layer has been found to both increase the gate barrier height for an FET, and to passivate dangling bonds and surfaces defects in the GaAs substrate to enable inversion mode operation. Specific FET and diode devices are described.

  • Patent number: 4996221
Abstract: Histamine derivatives are disclosed which find use as effect and tissue-specific immune modulators. Specifically, the primary terminal nitrogen in histamine is derivatized to introduce a variable length side chain having 0 to 1 branch of from 1 to 3 carbons; 0 to 2 non-oxo-carbonyl groups; 0 to 4 heteroatoms, other than the non-oxo carbonyl oxygen; 0 to 1 aryl or alkyl-aryl group; and 0 to 1 functionally bound amino acid, polypeptide, or protein or derivative thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 13, 1987
Date of Patent: February 26, 1991
Assignee: The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University
Inventors: Kenneth L. Melmon, Murray Goodman, Manzoor M. Khan, Debra Marr-Leisy, Michael Verlander
  • Patent number: 4837305
Abstract: Molecular structures of .beta.-adrenergic antagonists are modified to produce biologically active compounds. The .beta.-antagonists are modified to form molecules of the general structure: ##STR1## wherein R is most generally R"--OCH.sub.2 --, and in some instances is R"--, and R"=an aryl or substituted aryl moiety; R'=--H, --CH.sub.3, or a short chain alkyl moiety; and Y=--OH, or more usually, --OAX or --NHAX, where A=an alkyl, aryl, or aralkyl moiety, and X=a terminal grouping, such as --CH.sub.3, --CF.sub.3 or --(CH.sub.2).sub.n COOH; or AX may be a carrier moiety consisting of a defined peptide or protein.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: June 6, 1989
Assignee: The Regents of the University of California
Inventors: Murray Goodman, Debra Marr-Leisy, Roberto P. Rosenkranz, Kenneth L. Melmon, Michael S. Verlander
