Publication number: 20260151220Abstract: The described system designed to promote the biological attachment of fibrous connective tissue to a bone implant features a bone implant with a scaffold defining a porous attachment surface, a suction port, and a manifold that distributes a negative pressure gradient across the attachment surface. The system also includes an extracorporeal vacuum pump and a percutaneous suction hose connecting the suction port of the implant to the vacuum pump. The implant is placed in the patient's body with connective tissue applied over the attachment surface, and the suction hose is attached and connected to the vacuum pump. The vacuum pump, operating outside the body, creates a negative pressure gradient over an extended period, promoting the growth of slow growing Sharpey's fibres for superior biological integration. A highly vascularised tissue graft, such as a pedicled muscle flap, may be applied adjacent to the avascular tendon to enhance endogenous growth factor migration.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 29, 2024Publication date: June 4, 2026Inventors: Joshua PORTER, Declan BRAZIL

Publication number: 20260000523Abstract: An implant system has an acetabular cup with an interior bearing surface with a central bearing zone that is smooth and devoid of holes or indentations. The cup also has a peripheral bearing zone that contains insertion tool engagement holes. The engagement holes are only present in the peripheral zone and have specific shapes and dimensions. The system includes an insertion tool with retractable interlocks that fit within the engagement holes to position the cup during implantation. The central bearing zone bears the main forces during articulation, while the peripheral zone withstands minor forces. The location of the engagement holes has a negligible effect on the cup's performance. The cup can be made of ceramic and may have a coated exterior surface for osseointegration.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 27, 2023Publication date: January 1, 2026Inventors: Declan BRAZIL, William DUONG, Andrew SHIMMIN, Michael O'SULLIVAN, Jonathan BARE, Dermot COLLOPY

Publication number: 20250017735Abstract: Dual mobility hip prosthesis has a liner rim that recessed with respect to an acetabular cup rim thereof so that an adjacent contact surface of the neck impinges the acetabular cup rim at extreme positions without impinging the liner rim. Furthermore, the acetabular cup rim defines an inner contact face correspondingly angled to the adjacent contact surface of the neck at the extreme positions to reduce point contact loading between the acetabular cup rim and the adjacent contact surface of the neck. As such the present prosthesis tolerates prosthetic impingement between the rim of the acetabular cup and the neck of the femoral component by mitigating against point contact loading force whilst eliminating impingement of edges of the polymeric liner between an edge of the neck and the rim of the acetabular cup and also allowing for sufficiently deep acetabular componentry with reduced likelihood of dislocation.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2022Publication date: January 16, 2025Inventors: Declan BRAZIL, Christopher BURGESS
