Abstract: A communications device (100) and method for adding at least one picture to a contact detail in a phone book (132) stored in the communications device is disclosed. The method includes storing (302) the at least one picture on the communications device during an audio visual communications call between the communications device and another device (202). The method further includes displaying an inquiry (404) on a display screen (106) of the communications device for identifying the at least one picture as possible data to be added to the contact detail in the phone book. The method further includes adding (312) the at least one picture to the contact detail in the phone book when a user interface (108) of the communications device provides an acceptance command in response to the inquiry.

Abstract: A closeable radio communications device (100) comprising a housing (210) having at leat two portions (220,230) pivotally mounted to each other about a pivotal axis (A) to allow relative movement of the portions between a closed position and an opened position. The device has a processor (103) housed within the housing (210) and a display screen (105) is mounted to the housing (210). A position detector module (125) is operatively coupled to the processor (103) and a user operated screen controller (130) is mounted to the housing (210) and operatively coupled to the processor (103). In use, the position detector module (125) provides position signals to the processor (103), the position signals being indicative of the relative positions of the two portions (220,230), and in response to the position signal the processor (103) configures operation of the user operated screen controller (130) to control movement of an object (OB) displayed on the display screen (105).

Abstract: There is disclosed the selective illuminating of a display (5) for an electronic device (1) that can reduce battery power consumption. The invention provides for detecting an event that will trigger an update of the display (5) and activation of illumination elements (27) for illuminating the display and determining whether the information to be displayed will occupy a region (B-L) of the display. If so, the region of the display is selectively illuminated by one or more of the illumination elements. The predetermined illumination time period may depend on a selected combination of a size of the region, a location of said region and/or a priority associated with the event.
