  • Patent number: 10401958
Abstract: An information handling system (IHS) controls a display for an immersive experience based upon a gazing view of one or more users. A processor communicates with the display and a gaze detector to detect a relative location of the user(s) to the display. A graphic processing unit (GPU) allocates a field of view on the display based upon the relative location, centers display content in the field of view on the display, and accesses color point control data in response to the allocated field of view. The GPU manages color and brightness of display components of the display according to the accessed color point control data to compensate for variations of color and brightness in a viewing angle of the field of view.

  • Patent number: 10346014
Abstract: Methods and systems for interfacing with users may include displaying content associated with a plurality of user interface elements, tracking a view of the user on at least a portion of the content to determine an interest of the user, detecting the user in proximity to an information handling system, displaying the portion of content corresponding to the interest of the user on the information handling system, sharing the portion of content associated with the plurality of user interface elements on a display, and scaling the size of the portion of content on the display to match the size of the portion of content displayed on the information handling system. The sharing may be based on a gesture from the user. The match may be based on the perception of the user, in which the perception is based on the distance between the user and the display.

  • Patent number: 10234907
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for rotationally coupling housing portions of an information handling system. An information handling system includes a housing having a first housing portion and a second housing portion. The information handling system also includes a hinge assembly coupling the first and second housing portions, the hinge assembly comprising a plurality of coupled links, the links coupled such that the links move in relation to one another to cause the hinge assembly to bend when the first housing portion is rotated in relation to the second housing portion. In addition, the information handling system includes a flexible display coupled to the first housing portion and the second housing portion, the flexible display covering the hinge assembly, the flexible display configured to bend when the hinge assembly bends.

  • Publication number: 20180210489
Abstract: Methods for assembling a narrow border plastic cover include defining a center portion and an edge portion of a plastic cover. A hard coat treatment may be applied to the center portion of the plastic cover to improve anti-glare and anti-scratch properties and mechanical strength while retaining the flexibility of the plastic cover at the edge portion. An optically clear adhesive may be applied to the plastic cover to improve the durability and bond strength of the bond between the narrow border plastic cover and a display. A structural adhesive may be applied to an edge portion of the display to improve the mechanical strength at the edge portion of the plastic cover when bonded to the display. • Patent number: 9671992
Abstract: A flexible display device monitoring system includes a display layer that is configured to flex into a plurality of flexed orientations. A sensor layer is coupled to the display layer and is configured to flex with the display layer into the plurality of flexed orientations. The sensor layer includes a plurality of sensors that each generate stress data in response to the sensor layer being flexed. A stress monitoring engine is coupled to the sensor layer and receives the stress data from the plurality of sensors when the sensor layer is flexed. The stress monitoring engine determines that the stress data exceeds a stress threshold and, in response, activates an alert system that may provide a vibration alert, a sound alert, or a visual alert. Visual alerts may include activating a relative portion on the display layer that corresponds to sensors that provided sensor data that exceeded the stress threshold.

Abstract: A display device viewing angle compensation system includes a computing device that is coupled to a display device and an image capturing device. The computing device is configured to receive at least one image from the image capturing device, analyze the at least one image to detect a first user, and determine a first user viewing angle relative to the display screen. The computing device then determines at least one display screen output modification using the first user viewing angle. The computing device then applies the at least one display screen output modification to the display device to modify at least one display screen output provided on the display screen. The at least one display screen output modification may modify a display screen brightness output, a display screen contrast output and/or a display screen color output provided on the display screen.

  • Patent number: 8884502
Abstract: An OLED assembly comprises a base and a planar OLED device mounted on the base. A planar light diffuser sheet is removably attached relative to the base and OLED device. A releasable attachment mechanism is operably configured between the light diffuser sheet and the base. The light diffuser sheet is oriented relative to the OLED device so as to provide a selected diffusive property to light emitted from the OLED device. The light diffuser sheet is removable from the base upon release of the attachment mechanism and can be substituted with a different light diffuser sheet. A luminaire may incorporate the OLED assembly, wherein the luminaire has fixture in which the OLED assembly is received.

  • Patent number: 8829556
Abstract: A large area, flexible, OLED assembly has improved thermal management by providing a metal cathode of increased thickness of at least 500 nm. A thermal heat sink trace may be used as alternative or in conjunction with the increased thickness cathode where the trace leads from a central region of the OLED toward a perimeter region, or by other backsheet thermal management designs. External heat sinking, for example to a plate, fixture, etc. may be additionally used or in conjunction with the increased thickness cathode and/or backsheet design to provide further thermal management.
