  • Patent number: 11969380
Abstract: The present invention provides a system for managing occlusions during phacoemulsification surgery. More specifically, the present invention provides a user of a surgical console an alert when a partial or full occlusion of a surgical tool causes the vacuum pressure to become greater than a predetermined pressure threshold setting and automatically reduces the vacuum pressure when the predetermined pressure threshold setting is exceeded.

  • Publication number: 20240033416
Abstract: A pneumatic cross-connect proportional valve provides the capability to calibrate pressure and vacuum sensors in a surgical cassette associated with a surgical console. Calibration of non-invasive pressure and vacuum sensors in a cassette by utilizing a proportional cross-connect to pressurize the lines with set pressure or vacuum the lines with set vacuum and measure the response of respective sensors in the cassette. The use of proportional pressure may be used along with other clearing methods to clear material clogging the aspiration channel pathways and tubing of the surgical system. Utilize the cross-connect functionality to more rapidly pressurize the aspiration line upon detection or prediction of a post occlusion surge, thereby reducing the pressure difference between the surgical field, the eye chamber, and aspiration line which may prevent, for example, a surge of fluid out of the anterior chamber of the eye.

  • Publication number: 20230414411
Abstract: A system and method for providing the intraocular pressure (IOP) in the anterior chamber of an eye during ocular surgery is provided. Determination of IOP may be performed using an algorithm that is a function of the static (inflow) pressure and/or dynamic (outflow) pressure. Static (inflow) pressure may be calculated as a function of one or more parameters, including bottle height, wound leakage, sleeve size, length of irrigation tubing and/or inner diameter of the irrigation tubing. Dynamic (outflow) pressure may be calculated as a function of one or more parameters, including aspiration rate, vacuum rate, tip size, compliance of tubing, length of tubing, and/or inner diameter of tubing. Additional parameters may also be considered in the algorithm such as patient eye level.

  • Patent number: 11633531
Abstract: A surgical cassette/pack usage tracker for tracking a number of uses for a cassette/pack to prohibit uses from exceeding a maximum amount. A usage tracker system engages with or scans a portion of the cassette/pack to determine the number of uses. In illustrative embodiments, an implement interacts with a film in the cassette after each use and determines remaining uses for the cassette/pack. In other embodiments, an implement interacts with a rotatable wheel that rotates with each use, the implement configured to permit the tracker to identify the number uses and determine remaining uses for the cassette/pack. When a maximum usage amount is reached, the tracker system may issue a warning, eject or reject the cassette/pack and/or disable the surgical device from further use.
