More particularly the present invention relates to stabilization of UVA sunscreen dibenzoylmethane derivatives or even more particularly Parsol 1789™ (4-t-butyl-4?-methoxydibenzoylmethane) in personal care compositions. It is an object of the present invention to provide a personal care composition with relatively long photoprotection efficiency. It is another object of the present invention to stabilize Parsol 1789 by use of a natural substance or materials derived from plants. Surprisingly the present inventors have found that theaflavin or black tea extract having high levels of theaflavin, can act as a photostabilizer for dibenzoylmethane derivatives or Parsol-1789™.
