Patent number: 12572572Abstract: An information retrieval technique uses one or more machine-trained models to generate one or more metadata embeddings. The technique then combines a query embedding with the metadata embedding(s). In some cases, the technique performs this operation using a graph convolution operation. This yields an augmented embedding. The technique then uses the augmented embedding to retrieve at least one item. The augmented embedding lies in the same vector space as target-item embeddings associated with candidate target items. Otherwise, the vector spaces associated with the query embedding and metadata embedding(s) can be different. In some implementations, the technique use dense retrieval, which enables the technique to deliver output results in real time.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2023Date of Patent: March 10, 2026Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Deepak Saini, Jian Jiao, Aditya Lakshman Kalari, Chaoyin Li

Patent number: 12499168Abstract: A computing system obtains a novel keyword from a keyword database comprising a plurality of keywords. The computing system provides the novel keyword as input into an encoder and obtains a textual embedding of the novel keyword. The computing system identifies classifiers for similar seen keywords to the novel keyword. The novel keyword embedding and the classifiers are provided as input into a combiner model which outputs a textual embedding representative of the novel keyword and the seen keyword classifiers. The computing system compares the output of the combiner model to a textual embedding of query text. The computing system then identifies content based upon a computed similarity between the query text and the output of the combiner model. The computing system causes presentation of search results at a client computing device wherein the results include content selected based upon the computed similarity.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2024Date of Patent: December 16, 2025Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLCInventors: Deepak Saini, Jian Jiao, Sachin Yadav, Bhawna Paliwal, Anirudh Buvanesh, Manik Varma

Publication number: 20240054326Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for learning classifiers for annotating a document with predicted labels under extreme classification where there are over a million labels. The learning includes receiving a joint graph including documents and labels as nodes. Multi-dimensional vector representations of a document (i.e., document representations) are generated based on graph convolution of the joint graph. Each document representation varies an extent of reliance on neighboring nodes to accommodate context. The document representations are feature-transformed using a residual layer. Per-label document representations are generated from the transformed document representations based on neighboring label attention. A classifier is trained for each of over a million labels based on joint learning using training data and the per-label document representation. The trained classifier performs highly efficiently as compared to other classifiers trained using disjoint graphs of documents and labels.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2021Publication date: February 15, 2024Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Kushal DAVE, Deepak SAINI, Arnav Kumar JAIN, Jian JIAO, Amit Kumar Rambachan SINGH, Ruofei ZHANG, Manik VARMA

Patent number: 11741588Abstract: Embodiments described herein are directed to visual anomaly detection for content displayed via multi-display systems. For instance, computing devices may provide content for display by a respective display devices of a multi-display system. Each computing device provides images of the content, along with an identifier identifying the computing device as the source of the image, to a cloud-based storage system. A cloud-based visual anomaly detection system retrieves and analyzes the images from the storage system and determines whether any visual anomalies are present therein. The analysis is performed on a per-computing device basis. For instance, the system may apply a machine-learning based detection model to an image that is specific to the computing device that generated the image based on the identifier associated with the image. Upon detecting an anomaly, an automated action is performed to remediate the cause of the anomaly.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2020Date of Patent: August 29, 2023Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLCInventors: Pooja Ashokbhai Gupte, Deepak Saini
