Abstract: A system and method 100 to find origin and to prevent spread of false information across information sharing platforms is disclosed. The present system 100 provides a balanced technical solution achieving—privacy, law enforcement and information sharing in social media platforms for all participants. Pseudo Identity of user and hash of every unique message across participating social media platforms is mapped and stored securely, which by itself cannot result in identification of users or shared information. However, when false information is reported and verified, a Zero Knowledge Proof based mechanism can be triggered which can help in blacklisting verified fake news and identifying its first origin across social media platforms.
