  • Publication number: 20140277879
Abstract: A hybrid drive system for a combine includes a control wherein the hybrid system control determines a battery pack state-of-charge of the battery pack, and the hybrid system control also receives the current engine load estimate and engine speed from the engine control. Depending upon these variables, the hybrid control sends a torque command to a motor/generator control to provide a desired composite speed-torque curve from the engine and the motor/generator. In cases where the battery pack can be charged, an engine fuel curve is set by engine control to provide maximum engine power at isochronous speed, and when the battery pack is fully charged, the engine fuel curve is reduced to be shaped so that battery electric assist is not engaged until engine speed falls.

  • Publication number: 20140277877
Abstract: Methods are provided to operate a battery electric drive for a combine to ensure battery charge sufficiency during operation of the drive. One method includes monitoring the actual state of charge (SOC) of the battery pack during combine operation; calculating a running average of the actual SOC over a selected time interval; and adjusting the combine power when the running average SOC deviates from a target SOC. Another method differs in that actual SOC is compared to a bell curve of time related SOC measurements having a mean and standard deviations and only adjusts the combine power when an actual SOC measurement is outside the target SOC by an amount greater than the standard deviations. An operator display includes hybrid system power, RPM gauge, a SOC gauge and a battery pack direction flow of power.

  • Publication number: 20140222299
Abstract: A system is disclosed for preventing power head rollover of a vehicle during a dump operation. The system includes a dump signal indicating when the vehicle is dumping, a strut sensor reading indicating a condition of the front struts, and a controller receiving the dump signal and strut readings, and activating a warning signal when the dump signal indicates the vehicle is dumping and the strut reading indicates the front wheels may be lifted off the ground. The strut sensors can be height, pressure or other types of sensors. The controller can also disable further lifting of the dump body when the dump signal indicates the vehicle is dumping and the strut sensor indicates the front wheels may be lifted off the ground. The system can include a strut limit, and the controller can act based on comparing the strut reading to the strut limit.

  • Publication number: 20140119480
Abstract: A first signal generator is arranged to generate a first signal. A data storage device is configured to provide a null code. A multiplexer is capable of multiplexing the first signal and the null code consistent with a predetermined time sequence for expression of the null code in a produced precursor signal. A ranging code generator is arranged for generating a ranging code. A mixer is capable of accepting the ranging code and the precursor signal and outputting a locally generated reference signal. After down-conversion and digitization of the received composite signal, the code correlator can correlate the digital received composite signal to the locally generated reference signal to decode at least a first portion of the received composite signal, while leaving a second portion of the received composite signal undecoded.

  • Publication number: 20130147403
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention comprise a multi-input range box driven by multiple electric drives. Range shifting involves momentarily increasing the current through all but a given motor, to a level that will carry the entire load, comprising specified constant power. Simultaneously, torque of the given motor is reduced to zero. The given motor is then disconnected from supplying power, is synchronized to the input speed of the new speed range, and is then engaged for the new range. The above sequence is then repeated for each remaining motors, in turn. The motor current is re-equalized for all of the motors, after all the motors have been connected to provide power at the new range. Thus, there is no interruption in power flow during a range shift, and the motors are always used to deliver power, rather than to serve as a brake.

  • Publication number: 20130125800
Abstract: A seed spacing monitoring system is used In an agricultural seeder for planting seeds. The agricultural seeder has a furrow opener, a seed meter for metering seed to be dispensed in the furrow, and a furrow closer to cover the seed in the furrow. The seed spacing monitoring system includes a detector supported to detect seeds in the furrow prior to the seeds being covered. The detector provides a plurality of seed presence signals, with each seed presence signal being indicative of a respective seed present in the furrow. A speed sensor is associated with the seeder and provides a speed signal indicating a ground speed of the seeder. An electrical processor receives the plurality of seed presence signals and the speed signal. The electrical processor determines a seed spacing, dependent upon the seed presence signals and the speed signal.

  • Publication number: 20130120187
Abstract: A primary phase measurement device measures a first carrier phase of a first carrier signal and a second carrier phase of a second carrier signal received by the location-determining receiver. Abstract: An arrangement and a method for the automatic documentation of situations during fieldwork in which an operating parameter sensor records an operating parameter of an agricultural machine during field work or a crop sensor records a characteristic of the crop that is gathered or processed by the agricultural machine during the field work. A computer unit generates a triggering signal with the appearance of a pre-specified condition of the received signals of the operating parameter sensor or crop sensor. The computer unit is connected with an image recording device for the generation of an image signal by the agricultural machine or its surroundings. As a reaction to a triggering signal, image signals are stored in a geo-referenced manner and sent to a distant site over a transmission path.
