  • Patent number: 6321483
Abstract: A fly fishing line and a method for the manufacture of the line is described. The line comprises a core and an outer coating disposed around the core, the coating comprising polyvinyl chloride polymer, polytetrafluoroethylene and optionally polyacrylate derived from the polymerization of a polyfunctional polymerizable acrylate monomer. The method comprises coating a core with a plastisol comprising a polyvinyl chloride resin polytetrafluoroethylene, and optionally one or more of the foregoing monomers; exposing the plastisol to conditions providing formation of a polymer derived from the polyvinyl chloride resin and having polytetrafluoroethylene dispersed throughout the polymer.

  • Patent number: 5198301
Abstract: Films are provided made from ionomeric polymer resins with 2-40% by weight of a filler material, where the film has a thickness between 0.050 and 0.127 mm. These films are highly flexible and conformable. Adhesive composites comprising these films are also provided.

Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company
Inventors: Patrick J. Hager, Del A. Kauss, Janet T. Keller
  • Patent number: 5196246
Abstract: An improved wall decorating system is disclosed that utilizes a film comprising about 60-98% by weight ionomer resin that is a copolymer of ethylene and acrylic acid or methacrylic acid neutralized by a metal cation, the resin having a melt flow index greater than about 10 and about 2-40% by weight of a filler material, wherein the film has a thickness of between 0.050 and 0.127 mm. The wall decorating system also may include an improved adhesive comprising between about 60-100% by weight of hollow, polymeric, acrylate, inherently tacky, infusible, solvent-insoluble, solvent-dispersible, elastomeric pressure-sensitive adhesive microspheres having a diameter of at least 1 micrometer, and between about 0-40% by weight of a non-spherical polyacrylate adhesive.

  • Patent number: 4904253
Abstract: Normally tacky, pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes which are soft, pliable, conformable, and heat sealable are provided. The tapes have a backing of a substantially untensilized, tough, ductile film, the film being a blend of crystalline isotactic polypropylene and a compatible ethylene-based polymer, and a normally tacky, pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side of the film. The films have a longitudinal secant modulus of less than 3700 kg/cm.sup.2, a transverse secant modulus of less than 3700 kg/cm.sup.2, a longitudinal elastic modulus of less than 5200 kg/cm.sup.2, a transverse elastic modulus of less than 5200 kg/cm.sup.2, a longitudinal stiffness of less than 1.7, and a transverse stiffness of less than 3.0.
