  • Patent number: 5613609
Abstract: A dual chamber-child-resistant blister package is provided. The blisters of the package include a storage chamber and a discharge chamber. In addition, the blister includes restraint means for preventing the medicament from moving from the storage chamber to the discharge chamber until a predetermined force is applied to the blister package. The medicament may not be dispensed directly from the storage chamber, since a nonrupturable layer is located adjacent the storage chamber of the blister. The nonrupturable layer includes an opening, or a mechanism such as a score line for forming and opening) through which the medicament can pass adjacent the discharge chamber. A rupturable layer is also provided to seal the medicament within the blister. Typically, the rupturable layer is located adjacent the nonrupturable layer to seal the opening in the nonrupturable layer. The blister package may also include indicia associated with the blisters to help insure compliance with complex therapeutic regimens.

  • Patent number: 5279314
Abstract: A light electric dental flosser with a rechargeable battery compartment includes a motor casing, interchangeably individualized head units, and disposable plastic floss tips that snap mount within the hinged end of the head unit. The floss tips exhibit bidirectional flossing motion provided from a motion translation system including an eccentric cam, a yoke, and an output shaft with a cam follower mechanism that follows a generally Z-shaped tracking surface with a vertical track component and a horizontal track component enabled by the yoke to complete the resulting "Z" movement. The floss tips have a molded-in filament and are molded from a shock absorbing substance which absorbs the vertical component of the "Z" shaped motion upon the application of pressure to the filament thereby outputting horizontal motion until the filament passes through the contact area between two teeth.

  • Patent number: 5038454
Abstract: A method for producing an integral bottle/collar combination for use in a package for storing and dispensing potentially dangerous material such as medicament tablets. The package is resistant to opening by children yet readily openable by adults. The process includes a step of injection molding a polymeric part having a finish portion, a preform portion, and a flange portion. The flange portion has at least one integrally formed socket having a resiliently deformable pushtab connected by a hinge. The preform portion of the injection molded part is blow molded into the shape of the bottle. The hingedly connected pushtab is then folded into its in-use position.

  • Patent number: 4948002
Abstract: A package for storing and dispensing potentially dangerous materials, such as medicament tablets or the like, said package being resistant to opening by children but readily openable by adults, particularly adults having impaired manual dexterity of their hands and/or fingers. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the package comprises a bottle, a collar which is secured in place over the uppermost portion of the bottle and a closure which is secured to the finish portion of the bottle by means of complementary screw threads. The collar preferably includes a pair of spring-like pushtabs containing vertical extensions which engage interlocking teeth on the innermost surface of the closure skirt when the closure is fully assembled onto the bottle. To remove the closure, the opposed pushtabs must be manually depressed prior to applying unscrewing torque to the closure to disengage the pushtab extensions from the interlocking teeth on the closure.
