  • Patent number: 8595943
Abstract: A chainsaw (100) has a chainsaw body (101), a cutting chain (103) driven by a motor, and a guide bar mounting stud (111) extending from the chainsaw body (101). The chainsaw (100) also has an adjustably connected guide bar (102) having a track for supporting the cutting chain (103) around a periphery of the guide bar (102) and an adjustment pin (114) extending from a side face thereof. The guide bar mounting stud (111) is configured to extend through an elongated slot (112) in the guide bar (102). The chainsaw (100) also has a cam (116) received on the guide bar mounting stud (111) and having an eccentric groove facing the guide bar (102). The adjustment pin (114) is received in the eccentric groove such that rotation of the cam (116) causes the guide bar (102) to move with respect to the chainsaw body (101), thereby tensioning the cutting chain (103).

  • Publication number: 20100037472
Abstract: A chainsaw has a saw chain connected so as to be driven by the motor and a guide bar for guiding and supporting the saw chain as it revolves around the periphery of the guide bar. The guide bar has a channel formed by alternatively offset tabs, wherein each tab is offset from its immediate two adjacent tabs such that there is an open segment in the channel opposite each tab. There is a first set of tabs on a first side of the guide bar and a second set of tabs on the opposite side of the guide bar, wherein the alternatively offset tabs keep the cutting chain centered in the channel formed between the first set of tabs and the second set of tabs.

  • Patent number: 6547798
Abstract: A ring applicator for applying elastic rings to anatomical tissue during surgical procedures includes an inner member with a forceps movably disposed within a middle tubular member having a distal end configured to hold a plurality of elastic rings in an expanded state and a proximal end with a plurality of longitudinally spaced steps. The middle tubular member is movably disposed in an outer tubular member, and an adjustable stop mechanism is mounted on the proximal end of the outer tubular member to limit axial movement of the outer tubular member relative to the middle tubular member to select which rings are to be ejected. A distal handle is connected with the inner member via slots in the outer and middle tubular members, and a proximal handle is pivotally connected to the middle tubular member via a slot in the outer tubular member.

  • Patent number: 5617925
Abstract: A tool for driving a nail or other fastener is actuated by a caseless propellant charge formed of combustible material that is transported into a combustion chamber on a strip. The propellant charge is ignited by striking a sensitizer portion of the charge at an oblique angle. The ignition member intermixes the sensitizer material with an oxidizer layer of the surface of the propellant charge, resulting in combustion of the charge. When ignited, the propellant charge is compressingly interposed between an orifice plate and a movable portion of the combustion chamber. The orifice plate includes a pedestal with an annular compression surface that separates the surface of the ignition area from the remaining surfaces of the charge, insuring that ignition gases are forced through the charge. An annular C-shaped ring is interposed between the orifice plate and the movable portion of the combustion chamber.
