Patent number: 9027656Abstract: A tool is provided for installing a mandrel in a wellhead assembly. The tool includes an assembly having multiple independently translatable and rotatable members. The tool includes an inner member disposed in an inner sleeve. The inner member may be disposed in a first position and second position, such that in the first position the inner sleeve freely rotates and in the second position rotation of the inner sleeve causes rotation of the inner member. An outer sleeve is disposed over the inner sleeve and may be coupled to a hold down ring. The inner member may be coupled to mandrel. The tool may be inserted into a wellhead assembly and the outer rotated to engage the hold down ring, the inner and outer sleeve may be translated axially to allow rotation of the inner member to disengage the tool from the mandrel.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2014Date of Patent: May 12, 2015Assignee: Cameron International CorporationInventors: Delbert E. Patent number: 7441594Abstract: A full bore support system for a hanger or other equipment in a wellhead features a support groove in the wellhead that can be integrally made or on an insert. A support ring can have a variety of configuration and features an energizing surface and a limit surface that ultimately share the load. The receiving groove is configured to guide the support ring as it expands to minimize bending and distortion. The support ring is recessed and protected until it is actuated outwardly into a supporting position. A high strength low modulus material is preferred to withstand the radial expansion and the applied loads and environmental conditions. Various shapes for the ring are contemplated including a C-ring and a ring made from segments movable with respect to each other.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2004Date of Patent: October 28, 2008Assignee: Cameron International CorporationInventors: Delbert E. Vanderford, Garry Lee Cocker, Bok Soo Yook

Publication number: 20040155462Abstract: A connector for securing tubular members or conduits in sealed end to end relationship is disclosed. A split ring biased to an unlocked position is carried on the pin connection member in a recess. After the connection is made, the split ring is expanded through a window in the box connection member and locked in place. Alternative embodiments showing a split ring biased to a locked position and a split ring with an articulated joint are shown. A fourth embodiment that allows preloading of the split ring is shown also.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 3, 2004Publication date: August 12, 2004Inventors: Dennis P. Nguyen, Delbert E. Vanderford

Patent number: 6516887Abstract: An apparatus for securing a tubular member under tension is provided, the member secured to and extending between a first and second fixed assembly. The apparatus comprises a first tubular assembly connectable at a first region to the tubular member to be tensioned and a second tubular assembly having a first and a second engageable portion, the second tubular assembly being arranged concentrically with respect to the first tubular assembly and movable longitudinally with respect to the first tubular assembly. A first engagement assembly is provided for engaging the first engageable portion of the second tubular assembly with the first fixed assembly, such that movement of the second tubular assembly toward the tubular member to be tensioned is prevented.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2001Date of Patent: February 11, 2003Assignee: Cooper Cameron CorporationInventors: Dennis P. Patent number: 6328108Abstract: A tensioning device is disclosed which brings two tubular segments closer together with an intermediate adjustment sleeve. The sleeve is threaded externally and may be accessed internally by a tool to rotate it. The threaded sleeve is secured to the upper tubular in a manner that permits relative rotation. Rotation of the sleeve advances it downwardly in the lower tubular, pulling down the upper tubular secured to the rotating sleeve. The upper tubular translates until a load shoulder hits a support surface in the wellhead to achieve the desired tension in the string.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 1999Date of Patent: December 11, 2001Assignee: Cooper Cameron CorporationInventors: Delbert E. Patent number: 4190270Abstract: A hanger for supporting tubing in a well head including a tubular body adapted for connection to a casing head and having a tapered and upwardly facing seat, a tubular hanger positioned within the body and supported on the seat, a downwardly converging annular space between facing portions on the exterior of the hanger and on the interior of the body, a metal seal ring positioned within the converging space, a seal actuator sleeve positioned between the hanger and the body and being movable axially to engage the seal ring, and a wedging screw extending through the body. The wedging screw engages the seal actuator sleeve and wedges the seal actuator sleeve onto the seal whereby the seal is forced into sealing engagement in the converging space between the hanger and the body.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 1977Date of Patent: February 26, 1980Assignee: Cameron Iron Works, Inc.Inventor: Delbert E.
