  • Patent number: 5476345
Abstract: A shoring system consists of a number of vertical legs, with a ledger frame between each pair of adjacent legs. The ledger frame comprises an upper horizontally extending member and a lower horizontally extending member. There are vertical side members adjacent the sides of the frame. The horizontal members extend beyond the vertical side members and each horizontal member is provided with terminal connectors adapted to connect the horizontal members to the vertical legs. Consequently the vertical members on the ledger frame are spaced away from the vertical legs.

  • Patent number: 5344258
Abstract: A connector for a shoring system comprises a housing adapted to be mounted on a frame which is to be connected to legs which define the plurality of axially extending channels. The housing slidable receives a bolt. The bolt has a head shaped and dimensioned so that in one orientation axial movement of the bolt may introduce the head through the slot into the channel, and in an alternate orientation the bolt may not be withdrawn from the channel by axial movement. The bolt is associated with means adapted to rotate the bolt and to move the bolt axially relative to the housing.

  • Patent number: 5320440
Abstract: A shoring leg comprises an extrusion of aluminum or the like. The leg has a plurality of axially extending slots in its exterior at substantially equi-angularly spaced positions. The wall of the leg defines a substantially circular outer periphery and a hollow interior. The wall is interrupted by slot formations at substantially equi-angularly spaced positions, each slot formation comprising a pair of inwardly directed lips defining a slot therebetween and an inwardly directed web of substantially semi-circular form extending between the points where the lips, on each side of the slot, extend from the said circular wall.

  • Patent number: 5318388
Abstract: A shoring leg provided with a latch for use in maintaining an end plate on the shoring leg and a jack collar in a predetermined position relative to each other, the latch comprising a latch member mounted on the leg to execute a movement from a latching position to a release position, the latch member defining a recess jaw adapted, when in the latching position, to receive part of the leg end plate and to receive a corresponding part of an adjacent collar of a jack to retain the end plate and the collar in said predetermined position, there being means to retain the latch member in the latching position.

  • Patent number: 4778037
Abstract: An isolator includes a load bearing part arranged for deflection against the action of a series of compression springs and tension springs whose axes are pivotal with respect to the axis of deflection. The arrangement is such that the isolator can operate in a range in which an incremental increase in deflection causing compression of springs is such as to result in an incremental decrease in the restoring force of springs resolved along the deflection axis. The tension springs produce an increasing restoring force throughout this range, and the net result is a load/deflection performance in which a region of zero or near zero stiffness of the entire system, along the deflection axis, is provided, bounded by regions of positive stiffness.
