    Abstract: A discharge muffler is provided with a torturous flow path for the exhaust gas. A Helmholtz resonator communicating with the torturous path has two distinct Helmholtz throats and Helmholtz resonator volumes in series with each other. The use of the two distinct Helmholtz resonator volumes and throats provides a combined Helmholtz resonator system that will dampen two distinct frequencies.
