  • Patent number: 6647886
Abstract: A safety system for a motor vehicle includes a plurality of safety devices each adapted to be activated in the event that an accident should occur. Each safety device includes at least one element selected from the group comprising an electric activator for activating the safety device and a sensor to sense a parameter related to the safety device. The system includes a first conductive arrangement comprising at least one first conductor and a first group of a plurality of switches, with each switch of the first group being connected to one of the first conductors. The system includes a second conductive arrangement comprising at least one second conductor, and a second group of a plurality of switches, with each switch of the second group being connected to one of the second conductors. The elements are connected in a circuit so that each element is connected between one switch of the first group of switches and one switch of the second group of switches.

  • Patent number: 6400259
Abstract: A safety arrangement for use in a motor vehicle, the safety arrangement comprising a rail (7) provided on the floor of the vehicle and a vehicle seat (1) movably mounted on the rail means, the rail means being associated with one or more transmitting antennas (9) and the seat being associated with one or more receiving antennas (10), and means (12) to supply a signal to at least one transmitting antenna to transfer power to at least one receiving antenna, there being a safety device (4) mounted in or on the seat, actuating means being provided to use the power transferred to the said receiving antenna to actuate the said safety device.

  • Patent number: 6079739
Abstract: A pyrotechnic gas generator with adaptable flow rate for air bags including a hollow body in which a sealing partition (9) defines two separate combustion chambers (1a, 1b) each containing a different gas-generating pyrotechnic charge (2a, 2b). An initiator (3) with two heads (4, 5) and a single power supply ignites each of the two charges at different times. The two heads (4, 5) may be provided with separate different resistors (R1, R2) or incorporated into a switching bridge including four switches combined with a diode circuit. The generator (10) is useful for making a gradual generator for an air bag for protecting the driver of a motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5387006
Abstract: The inflatable safety cushion for a vehicle comprises an electric arming device (19) which is capable of detecting a dangerous situation and of very rapidly actuating a pyrotechnic gas generator for triggering said safety cushion, and which is powered by a cell (12). It also comprises an arming device (20, 21) for detecting that the vehicle is being used in order automatically to arm the device (19) as soon as it is detected that the vehicle is being used, and a device (21a) for interrupting the armed state as soon as, for a predetermined length of time, no use of the vehicle has been detected.
