  • Patent number: 6303671
Abstract: The invention provides a method of manufacturing polyaniline having magnetic properties and improved non-linear electrical properties, starting from neutral polyaniline, the method comprising the following steps: the neutral polyaniline is dissolved at a concentration of 0.1 to 3 parts per hundred by weight in a solution of fuming sulfuric acid including, at a concentration lying in the range 0.1 to 10 parts per hundred by weight, a magnetic metal, a magnetic metal salt, or any mixture of such metals and/or metal salts that is soluble in fuming sulfuric acid; the solution is maintained under stirring for a length of time lying in the range 10 minutes to 72 hours; the solution is poured slowly into methanol or distilled water to obtain a precipitate of magnetic self-doped polyaniline; and the precipitation cake is washed until the washing solution has neutral pH, and said precipitation cake is dried.

  • Patent number: 6180877
Abstract: A device for transmitting electrical energy or electrical signals comprises a core, an outer conductor and a threshold characteristic dielectric material between the core and the outer conductor. The dielectric material comprises, at least in part, a material that is insulative if the electric field is below a particular threshold and conductive when the electric field exceeds a particular threshold, so as to prevent the transmission of signals for which the electric field is above the threshold. The configuration of the core and/or of the outer conductor is such that the external electric field threshold from which the material becomes conductive is significantly less than the intrinsic breakdown threshold of the material.

  • Patent number: 6023201
Abstract: An electrical signal transmission device includes a core and an outer conductor separated by a dielectric. To eliminate external radiated interference, for which the device behaves like a receiving antenna, the core, the outer conductor and/or the dielectric feature discontinuities forming impedance discontinuities. The discontinuities are chosen to prevent propagation towards the core of external interference waves in a particular range of frequencies.

  • Patent number: 5658355
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a supercapacitor electrode containing a metal oxide and carbon-containing material, the method including the following steps: starting from a salt of said metal dissolved in an aqueous solution of a strong base, the hydroxide of the metal is precipitated in the form of a gel by adding an alcohol; the precipitate of the hydroxide of the metal is washed and dried; active carbon is added to the precipitated hydroxide of the metal to consitute a first mixture; the first mixture is subject to heat treatment in order to transform the hydroxide into an oxide, and a mixture of metal oxide and of active carbon is obtained which constitutes the active material of the electrode; and a binder is added to the active material to form a paste which is put into the form of an electrode.
