  • Publication number: 20120263045
Abstract: A method for enhancing the use of radio resource allocated to data communication between user equipments and a radio access network infrastructure adapted for operating in first and second frequency bands for providing respective first and second services to user equipments is proposed. According to the method, a user equipment detects an actual or potential occurrence of a radio-frequency co-existence issue between the radio transmissions for said first and second services, and transmits information regarding the detected radio-frequency co-existence issue.

  • Patent number: 7881257
Abstract: A control method allocates to a base station, at a control member of the base station, a list of channels shared by several terminals containing several sets of shared channels. For a communication session between the base station and a specific terminal, the method indicates to the terminal the list of shared channels allocated to the base station. At the base station, the method selects for the terminal one of the sets of shared channels, and independently of the control member, indicates the selected set to the terminal via a dedicated channel.

  • Patent number: 7656838
Abstract: A base station (2a,2b,2c) which can communicate with radio terminals on common and dedicated channels according to specific speeds, is provided with a band-pass which is available according to the use of the common and dedicated channels in order to receive data from a radio terminal on a high-speed uplink channel. An available band-pass is determined in the base station in order to receive the data from at least one radio terminal (1) on at least one high-speed dedicated uplink channel. A first indication relating to the available band-pass is subsequently transmitted on a common downlink channel. At least one second indication relating to a percentage of the available band-pass which should not be exceeded by the radio terminal during a forthcoming transmission on said high-speed dedicated uplink channel is then transmitted independently for each radio terminal.

  • Patent number: 7653016
Abstract: A radio terminal is organized to send a first access signal then, when it receives a positive acknowledgement from a base station, a second access signal, resources of the communication network being allocated to the radio terminal after receipt of the said second access signal at the base station. At a base station, the first access signal sent by a radio terminal is received and the communication service requested by the terminal is detected therein. In conditional manner, depending on the detected communication service, a receive power of the first access signal is measured, the measured receive power is compared with a threshold, and the transmission of a positive acknowledgement of the first access signal to the radio terminal is inhibited, when the measured receive power is greater than the said threshold.

  • Publication number: 20070165600
Abstract: The invention relates to terminals which can communicate through a second sub-system (3G), but not a first sub-system (2,5G) of a telecommunication system, using first and second modes of communication simultaneously. For such a terminal (1) with a current communication with the first sub-system using the first communication mode, a request for establishment of a second communication using the second communication mode for said terminal is made, said request being made by said terminal to the first sub-system, in reply to the detection of said request, a transfer of the first current communication to the second sub-system is initiated and a second communication established with the second sub-system using the second mode of communication.

  • Patent number: 7228147
Abstract: In certain circumstances, a mobile radiocommunication terminal estimates an initial radio signal transmission power, i.e. a random access request, to a base station located within the range thereof. If it is very close to said station, said initial estimated power can be lower, even greatly lower, than the minimum transmission power of the mobile terminal. In order to limit interference with other communications in progress, the transmission of said signals is inhibited if the difference between the minimum transmission power and the initial estimated power lies beyond a predefined threshold.

  • Patent number: 7184776
Abstract: A base station transmitter and a method of operating the same for use in a wireless telecommunications network are described. The transmitter is used for transmitting messages to at least one user equipment, the transmitter being adapted to transmit a paging request on a paging channel to page a user equipment. The message includes a representation from which the paged user equipment can determine whether its present position is within a geographical area. By using geographical coordinates the user equipment can deny paging requests which are of no local interest.

  • Patent number: 7184771
Abstract: A radiocommunication infrastructure includes a core network comprising switches and subscriber management means and an access network comprising a plurality of base stations capable of communicating by radio with the mobile stations and base station control means. Messages pertaining to services of an idle mode type are: broadcast by one or more of the base stations to be received by mobile stations in idle mode; and/or transmitted by the base station towards at least one mobile station in active mode, for which the base station control means store radio link management information, if said management information includes references relating to the services to which the service messages pertain. These references are received by the control means during a setup procedure which has caused the mobile station to enter the active mode.

  • Publication number: 20070037589
Abstract: A service provided to wireless stations through a telecommunication network is identified by a unique service identifier stored in the telecommunication network and in at least one subscriber station among the wireless stations. The method comprises the steps of: determining a paging identifier in the telecommunication network and at said subscriber station, by applying a hash function to a data string including at least part of the unique service identifier; associating said subscriber station with the determined paging identifier; and prior to transmitting information pertaining to the service over a broadcast channel, transmitting a paging message incorporating said paging identifier to the wireless stations.

  • Patent number: 7089009
Abstract: Methods, systems and network elements are described to improve the speed of handover in a mobile radio telecommunications system. In one embodiment a mobile terminal (114) transmits a list of addresses of network nodes (102, 103, 105, 122, 125) to a target base station (106) in preparation for setting up a new radio link to the target base station (106). The list of addresses can be used by the target base station (106) to select a node (122, 125) which is common to both the old and the new communication path and to address this node directly without requiring a cross-over switch network query. The new path (122, 110, 106) can then be set up quickly ready for the handover to target base station (106). In a further embodiment the network distributes pre-authenticated signatures for a mobile terminal (114) to the nodes (102, 103, 105, 122, 125) of the network currently supporting a communication.
