  • Patent number: 10781076
Abstract: An elevator buffer system includes a buffer (44), a frame (30) spaced above the buffer, a platform (48) spaced above the frame, and a pre-compressed pad device (52) disposed between the frame and the platform and engaged to one of the frame and the platform. The system is constructed to move between a non-strike position, where the pre-compressed pad device is spaced from the other of the frame and the platform; a mid-strike position, where the pre-compressed pad device is in contact with the other of the frame and the platform; and a full-strike position, where the pre-compressed pad device is further compressed against the other of the frame and the platform.

    Assignee: OTIS ELEVATOR COMPANY
Inventors: Antoine Adrian Blanchard, Denis Gauthier
  • Patent number: 10489118
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for generating more random data or ensuring more random data than provided by single sources. Entropy is gathered among multiple random or pseudo-random sources at different frequencies. The entropy is pushed, pulled, or otherwise presented to a pseudo-random number generator when there is enough entropy. The determination of enough entropy can be through a modified Hamming distance. The frequencies of polling for entropy from the entropy sources can be jittered by a random amount.

Date of Patent: November 26, 2019
    Assignee: Oracle International Corporation
Inventors: Paul Timothy Dale, P. Denis Gauthier

  • Publication number: 20070256899
Abstract: The invention concern a method for mounting a car drive machine (9), especially for elevators having no machine room, the drive machine (9) being to be affixed to a structure in the hoistway, characterized in that it successively consists of positioning said drive machine (9) on a support (23) positioned so as to be suitably on the top of the elevator car (7) and being able to move transversally, to lift the elevator car (7) until the machine is slightly above said structure, to move the support (23) with the machine (9) transversally and outwardly so as to position the machine (9) immediately above its fixing position, to lower the car (7) so as to place and fix the machine (9) on said structure, and to bring said support (23) back transversally so as to free it from the machine (9).

  • Patent number: 6510676
Abstract: This device includes a single enclosure (7) containing and carrying the reservoir (A), the dispenser (B), and the distributor (C) made of cylindrical and rotary brushes (39a to 39c), and the dispenser (B) having two parallel flaps (15, 16) which come into closure contact against the upstream transverse wall (12a) of the enclosure (7), near to the blister sheet (5), and are linked, by their posterior ends, to independent motors (18, 19) able to move the flaps in one direction or the reverse, the control of the opening and closing of each flap (15 and 16) reacting, in respect of the upper flap (15), to a volumetric sensor (34) detecting the quantity of tablets accumulated in the buffer bay (40) and, in respect of the lower flap, to a sensor (38) disposed above the blister sheet (5), upstream of the first brush (39a).
