Publication number: 20240135700Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products for image recognition in which instructions are executable by a processor to dynamically generate simulated documents and corresponding images, which are then used to train a fully convolutional neural network. A plurality of document components are provided, and the processor selects subsets of the document components. The document components in each subset are used to dynamically generate a corresponding simulated document and a simulated document image. The convolutional neural network processes the simulated document image to produce a recognition output. Information corresponding to the document components from which the image was generated is used as an expected output. The recognition output and expected output are compared, and weights of the convolutional neural network are adjusted based on the differences between them.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2023Publication date: April 25, 2024Inventors: Arnaud Gilles Flament, Christopher Dale Lund, Guillaume Bernard Serge Koch, Denis Eric Goupil

Patent number: 11664008Abstract: An active display can be used in a theatre with reduced screen-door effect. For example, the active display can have a structure, such as a diffuser structure, or a diffuser and mask structure, that can have, or appear to have, transmissive areas and opaque areas to reduce the audience from detecting gaps or other non-light sources in the active display. The active display may additionally or alternatively have audio ports to allow sound to pass through the active display and appear to the audience as if the sound is coming from the active display.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2018Date of Patent: May 30, 2023Assignee: IMAX Theatres International LimitedInventors: Steen Svendstorp Iversen, Denis Gilles Tremblay

Patent number: 10691006Abstract: A screen can be vibrated by vibrators that are drivable by signals. Each vibrator can be adjacent in position to other vibrators that are drivable by different types of drive signals than a drive signal associated with the vibrator. The number of drive signals can be equal to or less than the number of vibrators. A vibrator assembly for a vibrator can include a baffle and a transducer that couples to the baffle. The transducer can vibrate at least a portion of the screen. The vibrating screen can be monitored by a sensor and an analyzer unit that can analyze image speckle and screen displacement artifacts in captured images of images projected onto the screen and output results of the analysis.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2015Date of Patent: June 23, 2020Assignee: IMAX Theatres International LimitedInventors: Denis Gilles Tremblay, Gashtaseb Ariana

Patent number: 10406728Abstract: A shim for a compression mold for manufacturing a component from reinforced plastic, typically from SMC, comprising a fixed molding element, a mobile molding element, and a mobile shim that can be moved by an actuator. The mobile shim comprises a conventional part made of steel but also a part made of a high expansion material with a mean coefficient of expansion that is high enough that its own expansion at the molding temperature places the shim in compression against the molding element and seals against this element, thus eliminating flash on the molded part. This material is advantageously a polyetheretherketone, or PEEK. A mold comprising this shim and a compression molding method are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2013Date of Patent: September 10, 2019Assignee: Compagnie Plastic OmniumInventors: Frederic Arnaud, Patrick Bosg, Denis Gille, Serge Monnin, Olivier Torres, Jean-Yves Sozet
