  • Patent number: 4687073
Abstract: Access equipment including a vehicle (10) on which stands a mast (14) movable between horizontal and vertical positions and mounted for rotation about an axis (13). The mast is telescopically extendible and carries a pivoted boom (17) which is also telescopically extendible and carries a further boom (19) with a working platform (20) thereon. Booms (17, 19) can operate only when the mast (14) is vertical. A cable system maintains platform (20) level for all positions of booms (17, 19) and at least two sets of conduits extend from the vehicle (10) to the platform (20). A take-up system for maintaining the conduits taut is located in casing (54) attached to mast (14) and includes sets of rollers (61 to 69) for supporting the conduits around curved paths and preventing them from becoming entangled.

  • Patent number: 4536009
Abstract: A stabilizing system for a vehicle carrying a load supporting platform (10), to prevent the platform from tilting when the load is unevenly distributed about the longitudinal center line of the vehicle, the system comprising a pair of jacks (17) which are pivotally attached to the platform (10) at the sides thereof outside the adjacent wheels (15). The jacks carry inwardly extending foot plates (18). The jacks are lowered behind the vehicle wheels which are then driven in reverse so that the tires ride up onto the foot plates (18). In this position the jacks extend vertically to the ground and support their associated wheels thus limiting the tilting of the platform (10). A control device (20, 19) is provided to withdraw the jacks to their inoperative positions for travelling upon forward movement of the vehicle. The stabilizing system is self-engaging by reversing the vehicle after releasing the jacks.

  • Patent number: 4296833
Abstract: Access equipment comprising a wheeled vehicle (10) carrying on its chassis a turntable (11) on which is rotatably mounted a supporting structure (12) on which, in turn, is mounted a pair of articulated booms (14,16) having hydraulic actuating rams (20,21) and carrying a personnel platform (18) at the free end of the boom assembly, there being at each end of each boom a guide pulley or half pulley (22,23,24) around which passes a control or support line (26) anchored to the supporting structure (at 27) and to the platform (at 28), the line (26) remaining taut along a path whose length remains constant irrespective of the configuration of the boom assembly.

  • Patent number: 4294188
Abstract: Equipment for cleaning hulls of ships and like surfaces, including a vehicle carrying an articulated boom structure comprising one or more booms connected to the vehicle and rotatable about a turntable thereon, and elevatable relative thereto, the outermost end of the boom structure carrying a frame or the housing which contains a nozzle or like for cleaning or applying coatings to the surface to be treated, the frame or housing including rollers for running along the that surface in contact therewith and the turntable drive being capable of being so rotationally biased that the rollers are positively maintained in engagement with the surface being cleaned.
