  • Patent number: 10175142
Abstract: An inspection system for inspecting a multiple-fiber connector is provided. The inspection system includes a microscope probe and a probe tip configured to provide an optical path between the microscope probe and the multiple-fiber connector. The probe tip and microscope probe are configured so that the field of view of the microscope probe is sufficiently large to cover a portion of the connector surface encompassing a plurality of the optical fiber endfaces. The system further includes a shifting mechanism operable to shift the field of view of the microscope probe between at least two discrete positions over the connector surface. Each discrete position encompasses a different subset of the multiple optical fiber endfaces and optionally at least one positioning reference. A probe tip and a method of inspection are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7265351
Abstract: A method and apparatus for non-contact determination of liquid concentrations such as the content of water, oil, dye, paint, fuel, glue, etc., in a moving or stationary mass of production such as wood, paper, powders, fabrics, sand, bricks, concrete, plants, and the like, or in other liquids such as oil spills in water, is provided. The method comprises measuring the passive emissivity of a substance, using an imaging radiometer. It has been found that an emissivity image may be used to quantify the liquid content in a substance. The invented method allows for non-contact, rapid and continuous in-line measurements.

  • Publication number: 20060234386
Abstract: There is described a system and method for the in vivo determination of lactate levels in blood using Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) and/or Near-infrared Raman Spectroscopy (NIR-RAMAN). The method teaches measuring lactate in vivo comprising: optically coupling a body part with a light source and a light detector the body part having tissues comprising blood vessels; injecting near-infrared (NIR) light at one or a plurality of wavelengths in the body part; detecting, as a function of blood volume variations in the body part, light exiting the body part at at least the plurality of wavelengths to generate an optical signal; and processing the optical signal as a function of the blood volume variations to obtain a lactate level in blood.
