  • Patent number: 10386221
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method for determining a level of a liquid in a tank with an ultrasonic fill state sensor and at least two reference surfaces for reflecting an ultrasonic wave transmitted by the ultrasonic fill state sensor. A first reference surface is arranged below a second reference surface. The method includes determining a first propagation speed of an ultrasonic wave to the first reference surface on a first measurement path and a second propagation speed from the first reference surface to the second reference surface on a second measurement path. The method also includes measuring a propagation time of an ultrasonic wave from the ultrasonic fill state sensor to a liquid level of the liquid in the tank, selecting the first propagation speed or the second propagation speed based on at least one selection criterion, and calculating a fill state using the propagation time measured.

  • Patent number: 10145722
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a tank for a motor vehicle for storing a liquid additive with a calibrated sensor for determining at least one parameter of the liquid additive in the tank. In a step a) the sensor is installed in the tank. In a step b) the tank is at least partially filled with a predefined quantity of a test liquid. In a step c) a signal of the sensor is determined, and in a step d) the sensor is calibrated with the signal.

  • Patent number: 6708478
Abstract: The invention pertains to a device and procedure to regulate the bale length in a square baler. Sensors determine both the forward and backward movement of the crop bundle and transfer these measurements to an evaluation electronic. The evaluation electronic adds the measurements and triggers the tying process when the actual length value is reached. The procedure includes the steps of: sensing both the forward and backward movement of a crop bundle in a baling chamber; adding the measured forward and backward movements to determine an actual length value of the crop bundle; and triggering the tying device once a pre-set target actual length value is reached.

  • Patent number: 6318250
Abstract: A device for actuating the clutch of a twine wrap device in a big square baler for harvested crops has a pawl attached to the clutch, a shift lever pivotable into the orbit of the pawl, a control device for the shift lever, and an electric motor which is drive-connected with the control device for the shift lever. The electric motor may be connected via an electric circuit with a device for determining the bale length.

  • Patent number: 6112507
Abstract: A square baler has a pick-up device, a feeding channel, a baling chamber with a baling ram, side walls of the baling chamber, a hydraulic adjustment device to change the position of at least one pivotal side wall and corresponding sensors and control devices, which regulate the side walls. A control device regulates the baling force of the square baler. A pressure sensor measures the baling pressure in the hydraulic adjustment device. The baling pressure is then compared with a set pressure value. The difference in the value of the pressures is processed via a PID controller, which sends an adjustment signal to a hydraulic valve for adjusting the difference in the actual and set pressures.

  • Patent number: 6073426
Abstract: A system is provided to monitor and control operational functions in a baler such as a big square baler. Clutches and drive components associated with the system are switchable via a speed regulator. Depending on the switch position of the clutches, additional adjusting devices can be engaged or disengaged. The system automatically swings the cutting knives into and out of the feed channel to preclude clogging of the knife slots in the bottom of the feeding channel. It is advantageous to build such a system with several job processing units sharing the same processing software and, at least in part, identical hardware.
