  • Patent number: 4401287
Abstract: A swivel assembly comprising a base plate, a swivel plate mounted on the base plate for rotation relative thereto, bearing elements between the opposing inner faces of the plates, and a fastener connecting the plates. The fastener comprises a bolt having a head on the outer face of the base plate, and a threaded shank extending through axially aligned holes in the plates. The fastener further comprises a nut on the outer face of the swivel plate threaded on the bolt for drawing the swivel plate toward the base plate against the bearing elements. Both the head of the bolt and the nut are freely rotatable relative to the plates, with the head of the bolt being generally accessible for being turned, and the nut being rendered generally inaccessible by an object mounted on the outer face of the swivel plate.

  • Patent number: 4281426
Abstract: A unit for mounting a seat on a boat thwart or the like. The unit includes a base to rest on the thwart for securement thereto of the seat and a clamping assembly carried by the base for clamping the base on the thwart. This clamping assembly comprises a pair of arms extending outwardly from opposite sides of the base with each arm having a clamping shoe at its outer end. The shoes are engageable with opposite sides of the thwart for clamping the base to the thwart. The shoes are roughly adjusted quickly to space the shoes apart a distance somewhat greater than the width of the thwart for application of the unit to the thwart and then finely adjusted to draw them into clamping engagement with opposite sides of the thwart.

  • Patent number: 4149691
Abstract: An assembly for mounting an outboard motor on a boat, such as at the stern thereof. The assembly comprises an arm extending aft from the stern and having a block at its aft end for mounting the outboard motor at the stern, a guide for axially guiding the arm fore and aft of the boat, and a base on which the guide is removably mounted. The base may be mounted on the boat anywhere within a specified distance inboard of the stern, with the arm being adjustable fore and aft in the guide for mounting the motor at a predetermined position aft of the stern when the base is mounted at different distances (within the aforesaid specified distance) inboard of the stern.

  • Patent number: 4122571
Abstract: A latching assembly for mounting a seat on a boat thwart or the like comprising a base to rest on top of the thwart for securement of a seat thereto. A pair of keepers are mounted on top of the thwart for securing opposite sides of the base to the thwart, and a latch is mounted on the base on one of the opposite sides of the base. The latch is selectively movable from a retracted position to an extended latching position in which the latch projects beyond the side of the base and underlies one keeper to prevent vertical movement of the base relative to the thwart. The latch also abuts that keeper to block movement of the base on the thwart in side-to-side, front-to-back and back-to-front directions when the latch is in its latching position.
