Patent number: 12123605Abstract: A system that includes a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system that includes a sensor system within the HVAC system. The refrigerant sensor system includes a refrigerant sensor that detects the presence of an amount of refrigerant in the HVAC system and a control system that receives the amount of refrigerant detected from the refrigerant sensor. The control system also determines the amount of refrigerant exceeds a threshold value. Additionally, the control system sends one or more output signals to one or more components that are configured to couple to one or more devices that are part of the HVAC system. The one or more components are configured to cause the one or more devices to adjust operations based on the state of the components. The sensor system also includes a housing that encloses the refrigerant sensor and control system.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2021Date of Patent: October 22, 2024Assignee: TYCO FIRE & SECURITY GMBHInventors: Daniel R. Rumler, Denis Sterjo, Rex Jeremiah Allen, Daniel Disch, Dominika Steinova, Mylsamy M.

Patent number: 11599078Abstract: An illustrative embodiment disclosed herein is a circuit for sensing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) equipment. The circuit includes an input port that has an input voltage signal. The circuit includes an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) generating a first digital signal based on receiving a representation of a supply voltage, generating a second digital signal based on receiving the divided input voltage signal, and outputting the first digital signal, the second digital signal, and an output voltage reference. The circuit includes an amplifier coupled to the ADC and amplifying the output voltage reference to generate a supply voltage. The circuit includes a microprocessor coupled to the ADC and configured to calculate a first ratio of the first digital signal and the supply voltage. The microprocessor is configured to determine the input voltage signal by calculating a second ratio of the second digital signal and the first ratio.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2019Date of Patent: March 7, 2023Assignee: Johnson Controls Tyco IP Holdings LLPInventors: Denis Sterjo, Mark G. Freund, Michael J. Schantzen

Publication number: 20170179732Abstract: An energy harvesting system can include an electrical conductor through which primary power flows. The system can also include an instrument transformer disposed around the electrical conductor, where the instrument transformer includes a secondary inductor, where the instrument transformer creates a first transformed power through the secondary inductor using the first power. The system can also include at least one tuning capacitor electrically coupled in parallel to the secondary inductor. The system can further include at least one switch coupled in series with the at least one tuning capacitor, where the at least one switch has an open position and a closed position. The system can also include an electrical load electrically coupled to the secondary inductor and the at least one switch, where the at least one tuning capacitor modifies the first transformed power when the at least one switch is in the closed position.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 22, 2015Publication date: June 22, 2017Applicant: COOPER TECHNOLOGIES COMPANYInventors: BRUCE DOUGLAS HOEPPNER, DENIS STERJO, RICHARD WILLIAM LUCAS, GREGG JAMES HAENSGEN
