  • Publication number: 20130273429
Abstract: In nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries whose positive electrode includes a positive electrode active material containing a lithium-excess transition metal oxide, the charge-discharge cycle characteristics are improved. The positive electrode active material contains a first active material represented by general formula LiCoxM1?xO2 (0.3?x?0.7, M is at least one transition metal element and includes at least Ni or Mn) and a second active material represented by general formula Li1+yMn1?y?zA2O<y<0.4, 0<z<0.6, A is at least one transition metal element and includes at least Ni or Co).

  • Publication number: 20090286159
Abstract: The present invention relates to a positive electrode for a rechargeable lithium ion battery comprised of single particles containing a compound of the formula LiMPCU, whereby M is a metal selected from the group consisting of Co, Ni, Mn, Fe, Ti or combinations thereof, and whereby in a X-Ray diffraction chart of the electrode the ratio of the intensity I1:I2 of two selected peaks (1) and (2) is larger than (9:1) and wherein I1 represents essentially the intensity of peak (1) assigned to the (020) plane and I2 represents the intensity of peak (2) assigned to the (301) plane. The invention relates further to a process for the manufacture of such a positive electrode and to a battery comprising such an electrode.

  • Publication number: 20060014076
Abstract: A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode comprises a positive electrode mixture and a current collector, wherein the positive electrode mixture has a positive electrode active material, a binder, and a conducting agent. A lithium-containing compound having an olivine structure is used as the positive electrode active material. A copolymer of polyvinylidene fluoride, tetrafluoroethylene, and hexafluoropropylene is used as the binder. Conducting carbon powder may be used as the conducting agent. Lithium metal may be used as the negative electrode. A non-aqueous solvent in which an electrolytic salt is dissolved may be used as the non-aqueous electrolyte.
