  • Patent number: 10790580
Abstract: The embodiments described herein provide for composite panels that include elements that form one or more Radio Frequency (RF) antennas. The composite panels may be integrated along with other composite panels to form a composite structure for a vehicle. In some cases, the composite panels function both as elements of an RF antenna and as structural elements of the vehicle. In some cases, the composite panels function both as elements of an RF antenna and as a means for static charge dissipation. When operating as an RF antenna, the composite panels are inherently conformal with an outside surface of a composite structure.

  • Patent number: 10150369
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present disclosure describe a differential assembly for allowing a vehicle to switch between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. The differential assembly includes a bearing assembly positioned between a race gear and output hubs. An armature plate is rotationally coupled to the bearing assembly and a clutch plate is positioned to engage the armature plate. A biasing member biases the clutch plate to engage the armature plate and allow the bearing assembly to transmit torque between the race gear and output hubs. When electricity is provided to an electromagnet, the electromagnet exerts a magnetic force on the clutch plate that is sufficient to overcome the bias of the biasing member so the clutch plate does not engage the armature plate and the bearing assembly does not transmit torque from the race gear to the output hubs.

  • Patent number: 10102686
Abstract: A lap counting system includes a pool that has an outer wall. The outer wall has an inside surface and the pool may contain a liquid. A tracking unit is coupled to the pool. The tracking unit is positioned on the inside surface such that the tracking unit may be submerged in the liquid. Thus, the tracking unit is accessible to a swimmer. The tracking unit is sensitive to touch such that the tracking unit may be engaged by the swimmer each time the swimmer completes a lap in the pool. Thus, the tracking unit records and times each lap swam by the swimmer.

Abstract: A vehicle tire includes tread blocks with a substantially-horizontal upper/top surface, a first pair of downward-sloping surfaces, a pair of horizontal shoulder surfaces, and a second pair of downward-sloping surfaces. The first pair of downward-sloping surfaces begins and slopes downward and outward from the upper/top surface. Each of the horizontal shoulder surfaces begins and extends outward from one of said first pair of downward-sloping surfaces. The second pair of downward-sloping surfaces begins and slopes downward and outward from the horizontal shoulder surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6669200
Abstract: A disc toss game which includes a target box or receiver with a false bottom interposed between the top and bottom edges, with the elevation of the false bottom being positionably adjustable relative to the plane of the top edges of the target box. A standpipe or tube is mounted within the target box coaxially with the center of the square target box. The target box has an outer perimeter defined by chamfered edges, with the plane of the top edge of the open standpipe or tube being positionably adjustable within the target box from an upper position which is coplanar with the edges of the target box, into one or more lower positions in which the top edge of the standpipe is recessed from the plane of the top edges of the target box.

  • Publication number: 20020187065
Abstract: A method for the rapid fabrication of mold inserts for molds and molds c is disclosed; wherein high machinability rates and time and cost savings along with increased tool life and material savings are obtained through the use of blank die inserts formulated from material commonly used in the metal injection molding process of complex shaped parts. The method involves first the creation of cutting path programs developed from CAD files of the part; direct machining of the cavity and core inserts as described to predetermined sizes; processing the cavity and core inserts to convert the soft material—initially consisting of fine metal powders in a matrix of binder compounds—into a dense, fully hardenable material comparable to the material used in conventional toolmaking; and performing any necessary finishing and fitting operations to fit the resulting dies into a base that can be used as part of an injection molding tool.

  • Patent number: 5976457
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for rapid fabrication of molds and mold components. This method involves first the step of producing a digital CAD representation of the mold; using this digital representation to make a set of oversized core and cavity three dimensional models, patterns or replicas, by using solid modeling technologies; placing these models, patterns or replicas respectively into a mold base with die pockets to accept the patterns; powder injection molding fine metal powders around each version of the core and cavity of the part to produce a "green" molded article having the negative or female impression or the original core and cavity patterns; debinding these "green" articles to remove the binder; sintering the debound articles to produce the final tool steel or related alloy molds; and performing secondary operations to fit then into a master mold base as part of a complete molding tool.
