  • Patent number: 9459776
Abstract: A device for use in studies involving multiple subjects to record observation data in an output file is provided. The invention may be embodied in a tablet type computer having a touchscreen or another form of electronic device having user input capability. The device displays a set of subject buttons for selecting a subject for which observation data will be recorded, a corresponding set of start time buttons to track and display the elapsed time for the corresponding subject, and a set of observation buttons corresponding to pre-defined observation data established by the user. Additional features may include, among other features, a reminder function for setting user-defined alarms, a time-stamped note function, and an initiation function for items such as time synchronization, describing subjects, and describing environmental or exposure details for the study to be performed.

  • Patent number: 8925882
Abstract: A mount for a telemetry receiver having a data connector and used in conjunction with a cage for housing animals and having at least one wall. The mount includes a base plate and a pair of rails which are attached to the base plate. These rails are dimensioned to slidably receive opposed sides of the telemetry receiver. The base plate includes at least one opening aligned with the telemetry receiver data connector when the telemetry receiver is inserted between the rails. The opening is dimensioned to receive a data cable therethrough. A fastener then secures the base plate to the inside of the wall of the cage.

  • Patent number: 5325451
Abstract: A method for making a modular optical waveguide (100) including a plurality of optical modules (102, 103, 104, 105) with each optical module having at least a core region (101) that is surrounded by a cladding region (111, 112). A first groove 114 and a second groove 116 are disposed into cladding region (111, 112), thereby separating the optical modules (102, 103, 104, 105).

  • Patent number: 5120678
Abstract: An improved method is provided for assembling an integrated circuit component to a substrate by a solder bump interconnection that is reinforced by a polymer film. The component is attached to a region of the substrate by a plurality of solder bump interconnections that create a gap between the component interface and the substrate region. A polymer dam is applied to the region encircling the attached component spaced apart therefrom. A liquid polymer precursor material is applied to the region including the gap and is confined by the dam to prevent indiscriminate flow across the substrate. In one aspect of this invention, gas is vented from the gap through a passage in the substrate to enhance fill by the precursor liquid. In another aspect of this invention, the precursor liquid is injected into the gap through a passage in the substrate and spread outwardly therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4309496
Abstract: A method of optimizing reproduction processes including the steps of preparing a physical standard, measuring the filtration and exposure values or densities used in preparing the standard, separating the image used in producing the standard into its color constituents using filtration values that are a function of those employed in making the standard, using a reproduction process to make many replicates of the standard, comparing representative samples of the replicate with the standard upon which the separations were based to measure the average difference in densities between the standard and such replicates, adjusting the filtration used in making the separations in response to such average differences until subsequent comparisons between subsequent standards yield average differences between acceptable, predetermined limits.
