  • Publication number: 20080061975
Abstract: A portable security device for displaying articles of merchandise in a retail environment has a base formed with a plurality of holes arranged in predetermined patterns for mounting the device on a plurality of different support structures. A housing containing an alarm system, a retractor and an alarm cable is contained within the housing. The housing is locked on the base by a key operated tumbler attached to the base. The base is mounted on the various support structures by fasteners, the attachment heads thereof being concealed within the housing. A plunger switch at the outer end of the alarm cable is activated when the cable is attached to an item of merchandise. An audible alarm is sounded if the integrity of the alarm cable is comprised or if the item of merchandise is removed therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20080034815
Abstract: A security device includes a locking member, a ratchet mechanism, and a plurality of cables. The cables extend through both a fastener and a base of the locking member and are wrapped around all six sides of a box-like structure. The fastener is releasably snap-fitted into the base of the locking member and secured therein by a magnetically attractable tine. The ratchet mechanism includes a housing containing a spool and a locking pawl. A bottom wall encloses a portion of the housing and includes a rotatable central portion having a key receiving recess for unlocking the spool from the pawl. The housing has a rotatable top wall portion which includes a flip-up handle for rotating the top wall portion and the internal ratchet to tighten the cable about an article. An alarm system is contained in the housing of the ratchet mechanism and actuates an audible alarm upon certain unauthorized actions occurring. An LED located within the housing provides a visual indication that the alarm system is activated.

  • Publication number: 20070295039
Abstract: A theft deterrent device includes first and second jaws pivotally connected to one another and pivotally movable between open and closed positions. The jaws form in the closed position an interior chamber and a through passage for receiving therethrough a portion of an article of merchandise. A lock slide is slidable within the interior chamber between locked and unlocked positions and lockable by a lock in the locked position to secure the first and second jaws together in the closed position. The lock slide includes lock hooks which lockably engage lock hooks of the second jaw. The lock slide includes locking and unlocking ledges which a resilient, magnetically attractable lock finger of the lock respectively engages in the locked and unlocked positions. An externally accessible thumb grip operatively engages the lock slide to move it between the locked and unlocked positions. An EAS tag is disposed within the device.

  • Publication number: 20070209407
Abstract: A security storage container has a primary security feature that is adapted to be locked and unlocked with an appropriate key. A secondary security feature is activated when the security storage container is opened without first unlocking the lock with the key. In one embodiment, the secondary security feature includes prongs that are moved to an extended position when the primary security feature of the container is defeated. In the extended position, the prongs will at least damage the item of merchandise protected by the security storage container. The extended position of the prongs may also further lock the item of merchandise within the security storage container.

  • Publication number: 20070164860
Abstract: A theft deterrent device allows a customer to handle an item of merchandise to which the device is connected. The device is configured to protect items of merchandise having first and second pieces each of which are sufficiently valuable to warrant such protection. The device includes a base mountable on a support structure, an audible alarm, first and second connectors which attach respectively to the first and second pieces of the item of merchandise, lanyards for connecting the base to the first and second connectors and a removal sensor for sensing removal of one or both of connectors from the first and second pieces of the item of merchandise so that the alarm is activated when the connector or connectors are removed from the item of merchandise. The lanyards provide electrical communication between the alarm and the connectors, which may include plunger switches which serve as removal sensors.

  • Publication number: 20060145848
Abstract: A security device includes a mechanism for attaching the security device to an article of merchandise. A circuit module containing a central controller is contained in the security device and monitors the attachment mechanism to sound an audible alarm contained in the security device if the integrity of a sense loop in the attachment mechanism is compromised. A trigger circuit also actuates the audible alarm if the security device approaches the vicinity of a remote security gate. An EAS tag contained in the security device actuates a security gate alarm upon the unauthorized passage of the article of merchandise through the gate. Other sense loops will actuate the audible alarm through the central controller if a switch within the security device is actuated or when an unlocking mechanism or verification device is used on the security device.

  • Publication number: 20060043050
Abstract: A bottle security device includes an inner member, an intermediate member and an outer member that cooperate to lock the device on a bottle neck. The inner member includes a plurality of fingers adapted to fit under the bead on a bottle neck. The intermediate member slides over the inner member and forces the fingers against the bottle. The intermediate member includes a plurality of upwardly extending arms with inwardly projecting teeth that engage outwardly extending teeth on the inner member to lock the inner and intermediate members together. A key unlocks and rotates a rotatable member to separate the intermediate and inner members to unlock the device. Upon rotation of the cover cap, camming surfaces on the rotatable member engage the upwardly extending arms to move them radially outward to disengage them from the inner member.
