    Abstract: A device for holding a fishing rod is set forth which includes a rigid fixture contoured to rest on the upper thighs of the fisherman. The fixture has a forward facing surface with a V-shaped rib the apex of which coincides with a bore adapted to receive the end of a fishing rod to guide the rod into the bore. To hold the fixture a belt extends angularly upward from each end of the fixture around the waist and back of the fisherman.
