Abstract: A mullion assembly is disclosed comprising a pair of complementary mullion clip portions, each configured to be self retaining or frictionally engaged to a pair of window frames. Each mullion clip portion is configured to snap into corresponding recesses in the first or second window frame without the need for additional fasteners. The clip portions include integrally formed thermal barrier tabs to block airflow between the window frames. The clip portions may also have self-aligning features such as correspondingly shaped projections and recesses formed in abutting surfaces of the clip halves to facilitate alignment and fit-up of the window frames. The mullion clips may also have barbs for engaging interior and exterior snap on covers that are used to cover the gap between the first and second window frames and form a finished outer appearance.

Abstract: A mullion reinforcement is provided comprising a first member that is fastenable to a portion of a first window frame. It includes at least one pilot that is formed on a surface of the first member, a first portion of a latch, and a first portion of a catch. A second member is also provided that is fastenable to a portion of a second window frame. It includes at least one pilot receptacle formed on a surface of the second member, and is engagable with the at least one pilot when the first window frame is assembled to the second window frame. The second member includes a second portion of a latch and a second portion of a catch that are complementary to the first portion of a latch and the first portion of a catch. When the first window frame is assembled to the second window frame, the first member and the second member cooperate to form a latch and a catch.

Abstract: A window frame member for inclusion in a window frame assembly is disclosed. The window frame member includes a channel shaped to accept an edge of a siding or sheathing product attached to a structure. The channel has sufficient depth to at least partially cover the siding or sheathing during expansion or contraction of the siding or sheathing. The window frame member also includes a first flange portion that may be used to attach the frame member to the structure. The window frame member also includes a second flange portion that cooperates with the channel to cover the siding or sheathing.

Abstract: A method is described of making a plurality of window frame members having different end use applications on a single production line. The method comprises the step of extruding from a single die plate a master window frame member having at least two flange portion extending therefrom. The method also comprises the step of cutting at least one flange portion at a predetermined location to create a functional frame member having a specific end use application.

Abstract: A two-piece mullion reinforcement is provided for use in forming an assembly of windows. A first member is fastenable to a portion of a first window frame, and includes at least one piloting tab that extends along and projects outwardly from a surface of the first member. A second member is likewise fastenable to a portion of a second window frame, and includes at least one pilot receptacle that is formed on a surface of the second member. The pilot tab and pilot receptacle comprise mutually complementary profiles so as to be engagable with one another when the first window frame is assembled to the second window frame. The first member also includes a first portion of at least one latch and the second member includes a second portion of the at least one latch that is complementary to the first portion so that when the first window frame is assembled to the second window frame the first member and the second member cooperate to form at least one latch.
