Patent number: 8818836Abstract: A method, system, and computer-readable medium for dynamically generating actual fulfillment plans for a current order or a potential order so as to enhance the future fulfillment process for expected future orders is described. In some situations, actual delivery information based on one or more such actual fulfillment plans will then be provided to a customer, such as by displaying actual delivery date and/or time before or during the ordering process based on one or more actual fulfillment plans that can be or will be used to fulfill the order. A variety of types of criteria can be used to evaluate the effects of using a fulfillment plan to fulfill a current order, including criteria that consider the modeled future cost of fulfilling expected future orders, such as an overall cost of fulfilling all orders during a specified time period that is at least partially in the future.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2013Date of Patent: August 26, 2014Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Erich Braumoeller, Richard Brinkerhoff, Jeffrey Alan Holden, Dennis Chua Lee

Patent number: 6942211Abstract: A mobile, color printer capable of printing on letter-size plain paper and standard-size photo paper has a fold-up paper feeder that acts as a cover during travel. Such also serves as a storage tray for several sheets of paper to allow automatic feeding from a vertical stack. A slotted door hinged to the back of the printer, and under the hinges for the fold-up paper feeder/cover, can be flipped up or down. In the down position, a slot on the right side guides the user to feed in photo paper in the correct location. In the up position, letter-size plain paper has full-width access to the printing mechanism, and a sliding adjustable guide on the left allows letter, A4, and other size papers to be lightly corralled on both sides.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2003Date of Patent: September 13, 2005Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LPInventors: Cherng Linn Teo, Ah Chong Tee, Mylene Angele Kit-Njoek Tjin Wong Joe, Dennis Chua

Patent number: 6014513Abstract: A computer software tool used for automatically identifying code portions and data portions of a binary executable software program in which the code portions include machine instructions that are of arbitrary length. Software products are typically distributed as binary, executable files, which comprise a string of binary values. In general, an executable file has no structure or meaning, except as determined by its behavior when dynamically executed, one instruction at a time, by a digital computer. The software tool determines a set of addresses for any known code and data portions. The tool is then used to disassemble machine instructions, beginning at a starting address for each known code portion, to identify the target addresses of other code portions and other data portions. Other sections of the binary executable software program that could be either code or data are then analyzed to identify additionAL code and data portions.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1997Date of Patent: January 11, 2000Assignee: University of WashingtonInventors: Geoffrey Michael Voelker, Theodore H. Patent number: 5953534Abstract: A method and procedure for modifying modules comprising a binary executable software program in such a way that, despite the transformations performed and the creation of new versions of the modules, the transformed program appears (to that program, including all of its components) as if it is running in the identical environment as the original program. The environment includes environment variables, the name of the program, the names of all of the dynamically loaded library (DLL) files that the program references, the directory in which the program resides, and the current directory at the time the program started execution. When the program has been transformed, e.g., for the purposes of monitoring or measurement, the environment also includes the effective addresses of data and instruction references made by the program.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1997Date of Patent: September 14, 1999Assignee: University of WashingtonInventors: Theodore H. Patent number: 5793331Abstract: A user replaceable flexible retractable antenna for use with a cordless phone comprises a conductive base pipe assembly having a screw terminal to be threadably received on a bracket assembly of the cordless phone, and a flexible antenna assembly having a conductive contact secured to one end slidably received within the base pipe assembly. The contact is maintained in sliding communication with the inner wall of the base pipe assembly and is connected to a conductive helix extending through the flexible antenna to define a conductive path between the distal end of the flexible antenna and the screw terminal of the base pipe assembly. The antenna can be easily removed from the cordless phone by rotating the base pipe assembly to disengage the screw terminal from the bracket assembly.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 1996Date of Patent: August 11, 1998Assignee: Lucent Technologies Inc.Inventors: Masahito Anzai, Dennis Chua, King Hoe Goh, Ai Choo Loh
