  • Patent number: 10099237
Abstract: A repair machine is provided. The repair machine is structured to apply a repair fluid to a plurality of can ends. The repair machine includes a can end down stacker assembly, a can end conveyor assembly, and a spray assembly. The can end down stacker assembly is structured to move individual can ends from a stack to a conveyor assembly. The can end conveyor assembly is structured to transport the can ends over a path, the can end conveyor assembly including a number of reference locations. The can end conveyor assembly is disposed adjacent to the can end down stacker assembly and receives can ends therefrom. The spray assembly is disposed adjacent to the can end conveyor assembly downstream of the can end down stacker assembly. The spray assembly includes a locator assembly, a spray gun assembly, a motion assembly, and a control assembly.

  • Patent number: 7927667
Abstract: This invention generally relates to a spray apparatus and a method useful in the repair of coating adhered to can ends used in the food and beverage packaging industries. The spray apparatus has one or more elongated shafts rotatably coupled to a frame. One or more bearing members are rotatably coupled to the shafts. One or more plates are rotatably coupled to the bearing members. One or more spray guns are coupled to the plates. The spray guns of the spray apparatus are structured to apply fluid to the can end with a solid stream emitted from the spray guns in a circular pattern. A method for the repair of coating adhered on a can end is provided as well.

  • Publication number: 20100209604
Abstract: A conveying assembly is provided for conveying container closures, such as can ends or lids, to and from a rotary liner. The rotary liner includes a base, a chuck assembly and a turret assembly. The turret assembly includes a number of fluid dispensing apparatus to dispense a sealant for lining the can ends. The chuck assembly includes chuck members for manipulating the can ends to facilitate the application of the sealant. The conveying assembly includes a plurality of downstackers for feeding the can ends into the rotary liner, a plurality of star wheels, and a number of unloading guides. Each star wheel transfers can ends from a corresponding one of the downstackers to the chuck assembly. The unloading guides cooperate with the chuck assembly to discharge the can ends from the rotary liner. An associated method of lining can ends is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20100068378
Abstract: This invention generally relates to a mixing apparatus and a method useful in the repair of coating adhered on a can end used in the food and beverage packaging industry. The mixing apparatus has a plurality of holding tanks in fluid communication with a first fluid delivery system and a mixer. A pressure tank is provided which is in fluid communication with the mixer. A spray device is provided which is in fluid communication with a second fluid delivery system and the pressure tank. A plurality of liquids or fluids are flowed through the first fluid delivery system, the plurality of liquids or fluids are mixed in the mixer to yield a mixed solution which is flowed to the pressure tank and the mixed solution is flowed through the second fluid delivery system and dispensed on the can end. A method for the repair of coating adhered on a can end is provided as well.
