  • Patent number: 8906003
Abstract: A method of cryoablating diseased tissue is provided. The method includes providing an embolization agent. The embolization agent includes an inner core made of a first material. The inner core has a diameter less than a diameter of an opening of a target vessel. The embolization agent further includes an erodible outer shell made of a second embolization material encompassing the inner core. The erodible outer shell has an initial diameter greater than the diameter of the opening to occlude the target vessel. The method further includes occluding the opening of the target vessel with the embolization agent to reduce blood flow in the diseased tissue. The method further includes cryoablating the diseased tissue with a cryoablation probe while the target vessel is occluded by the embolization agent.
