Patent number: 7383596Abstract: This invention is directed to a futon sofa sleeper having a sofa frame, a folding mechanism and a mattress assembly. The a sofa frame has a back with a cavity and a pair of opposed arms. The folding mechanism folds into and out of the sofa frame and is extendable from a first position to a second position. The folding mechanism includes a frame with a rear section rotatably coupled with the sofa frame, a middle section pivotally coupled with the rear section, and a front section pivotally coupled with the middle section. The mattress assembly is supported on the folding mechanism and contains a shell and an inner support received within the shell. The inner support including an innerspring construction and an air bladder, wherein in the first position, the rear and middle sections of the folding mechanism are located within the cavity and the front section is used as a seating surface and wherein in the second position, the rear, middle, and front sections are used as a sleeping surface.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2006Date of Patent: June 10, 2008Assignee: L & P Property Management CompanyInventors: H. Patent number: 7269865Abstract: This invention is directed to a sofa with a flip-up deck. The sofa has a sofa frame with a back, a front, and a pair of opposed arms. The deck is rotatably coupled between the pair of opposed arms at a position intermediate the front and the back. Further, the deck is adapted to move between a closed position and an open position.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2005Date of Patent: September 18, 2007Assignee: L & P Property Management CompanyInventors: H. Patent number: 5903939Abstract: A sofa sleeper foldable sofa bed assembly having pivotally interconnected head, body, intermediate and foot frame sections each including a pair of opposed side rails. The frame sections are extendable to form a bed and foldable to form a sofa seat. The frame is supported laterally by at least one generally U-shaped cross brace which is biased in an upwardly raised position by at least one resilient member.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1998Date of Patent: May 18, 1999Assignee: L&P Property Management CompanyInventor: Dennis E. Patent number: 5745935Abstract: A sofa sleeper foldable sofa bed assembly having pivotally interconnected head, body, intermediate and foot frame sections which are extendable to form a bed and foldable to form a sofa seat. Each frame section has a pair of opposed side rails and the head and foot frame sections have end rails connecting the opposed side rails. The frame further comprises a cross rail extending between opposed side rails of the intermediate frame section. In one preferred embodiment, a floating cross tube is spaced from and generally parallel the cross rail. The floating cross tube has two ends, each end of which is secured to the cross rail by a rigid wire hook. A plurality of transversely spaced longitudinally extending sinuous wire springs extend between the cross rail and the end rail of the foot section of the frame in one embodiment of this invention and between the floating cross tube and the end rail of the foot frame section in a second embodiment of the invention.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1997Date of Patent: May 5, 1998Assignee: L&P Property Management Co.Inventor: Dennis E. Patent number: 5528777Abstract: An improved sofa sleeper deck includes a number of pivotal transverse slats secured to a foldable frame. Each slat is pivotally coupled to a linkage so that the slats can pivot between vertical and horizontal orientations in the extended bed configuration or the collapsed sofa configuration, respectively. In the bed configuration, the vertical slats provide a stable rigid support deck for the mattress to avoid the problems of hammocking and the like associated with previous sofa sleeper decks. The slats in a horizontal configuration provide a comfortable cushion seating surface for the sofa in the collapsedapsed configuration and an enlarge cavity to accommodate a thicker or bigger mattress collapsed into the sofa.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1995Date of Patent: June 25, 1996Assignee: L&P Property Management CompanyInventor: Dennis E.
