Patent number: 5515770Abstract: The piston made in accordance with the teachings herein includes a primary compression ring groove, a bottom and rear wall surface of which are hardened by the method of laser hardening. The method includes the steps of spraying the primary groove with a graphite spray and then directing an angled elliptical in cross section laser beam at the bottom surface of the groove while rotating the cylinder head at predetermined parameters.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1994Date of Patent: May 14, 1996Assignee: Clark Industries, Inc.Inventors: Richard J. Clark, Richard K. Clark, Dennis E. Clark, Richard W. Budd, Norman A. Moon

Patent number: 5465778Abstract: The unitary cylinder liner incorporating a water jacket is vertically cast as a one piece unit. The water jacket is draftless, allowing water to circulate therethrough more efficiently, increasing cooling capabilities. Such vertical one piece casting is made possible by the novel two piece core which eliminates the need for welding of metal bands onto an outer surface of the liner to produce the water jacket thereof. A novel method of vertical casting is also provided by use of the two piece core.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1994Date of Patent: November 14, 1995Assignee: Clark Industries, Inc.Inventors: Richard J. Clark, Richard K. Clark, Dennis E. Clark

Patent number: 5397361Abstract: A process of producing a cranial plate duplicating the dimensions of an excised portion of the cranium comprising, obtaining an excised portion of the cranium of a patient, preparing a three-dimensional impression of the excised portion in an impression material, removing the excised portion of the patient's cranium from the impression material to provide a mold cavity, and thereafter filling the cavity with a sterile resinous material which sets, and thereafter removing the set resinous material to form a plate duplicating the dimensions of the excised portion of the patient's cranium, and finally surgically installing the plate in the patient's cranium to replace the excised portion of the cranium earlier removed.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1993Date of Patent: March 14, 1995Assignee: Surgical Prosthetics Resource, Inc.Inventor: Dennis E. Clark

Patent number: 5361730Abstract: The unitary cylinder head and liner combination, is vertically cast as a one piece unit. The liner incorporates a water jacket therein. The water jacket is draftless, allowing water to circulate therethrough more efficiently, increasing cooling capabilities. Such vertical one piece casting is made possible by a novel two piece core which eliminates the need for welding of metal bands onto an outer surface of the liner to produce the water jacket thereof. A novel method of vertical casting is also provided which allows the cylinder head to be cast integral with the liner, allows for increased water capacity in the liner and integral head passages, and allows for a plurality of enlarged air intake channels to be provided.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1994Date of Patent: November 8, 1994Assignee: Clark Industries, Inc.Inventors: Richard J. Clark, Richard K. Clark, Dennis E. Clark

Patent number: 5288861Abstract: Potassium clavulanate exists in a novel crystalline habit, namely in the form of rosettes, having improved processing properties. The novel form may, for example, be obtained by crystallization or recrystallization using inverse precipitation, preferably at 8.degree.-15.degree. C.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1992Date of Patent: February 22, 1994Assignee: Beecham Group plcInventors: Dennis E. Clark, Shaukat H. Malik, Paul G. Butterly, Clive E. Badman, Jeffrey D. Haseler

Patent number: 5195468Abstract: The improved outlet end cooling system for a cylinder head of a locomotive engine includes a modified water pathway in the cylinder head, an outlet therefrom exiting from an upwardly directed surface of the cylinder head, and further including a modified rocker arm support having a planar bottom support surface and having an inlet port therein which is engageable with an outlet port in the cylinder head. The support has a water pathway therein which terminates in a nipple, the nipple extending past the cylinder head and downwardly along a side wall of the cylinder head into engagement with a remaining portion of the waterway. The improved outlet end allows for equal thickness of the side wall around the entire extent thereof, and eliminates a temperature gradient in an area of the cylinder head underlying a crab plate engaged thereover, virtually eliminating cracking and extending the useful life of the cylinder head.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1992Date of Patent: March 23, 1993Inventors: Richard J. Clark, Richard K. Clark, Dennis E. Clark
