  • Patent number: 10865941
Abstract: A safety system for a power tool having a motor and a cutting tool driven by the motor includes a control device configured to detect a direct contact of a conductive material with the cutting tool, the direct contact of the conductive material with the cutting tool defining a contact event, and a braking device movable between a retracted position and an engaged position. The control device is configured to interrupt electrical power to the motor and control the braking device to the engaged position when the contact event is detected.

  • Patent number: 9577422
Abstract: A grounding wire fault circuit interrupter for an electrical machine includes a chassis ground wire, a sensor, and a logic circuit. The chassis ground wire is configured to be electronically connected to a structure of the electrical machine such that the structure of the electrical machine is further electrically connected to one or more power lines that provide electrical power to the electrical machine. The sensor is electronically connected to the chassis ground wire. The logic circuit is electronically connected to the sensor. The sensor is configured to detect current leaks within the electrical machine by sensing electrical power on the chassis ground wire, and the logic circuit is configured to interrupt the flow of electrical power to the electrical machine when the sensor detects a current leak.

  • Patent number: 5847555
Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for controlling electrical power from a power source to electrical loads in response to a decrease in power source voltage. A power source signal is compared to a predetermined signal voltage to determine whether and how much the voltage of the power source signal has decreased below that of a predetermined signal. A fraction of electrical power from the power source is transmitted to the loads as a function of how much the voltage of the power source signal has decreased below that of the predetermined signal.

  • Patent number: 4853821
Abstract: Safety appparatus for sensing an electrically powered device connected to an AC power source to prevent the start-up of the device upon power restoration when the power device is in its "ON" operative condition includes a current sensing circuit that is responsive to reconnection of such a load to prevent the establishment of an electrical circuit path through the device. Included are circuits for sensing the presence of the AC power and for the generation of the sensing current are also presented.
