  • Patent number: 7110968
Abstract: The invention helps an on-line shopper maintain the proper relationship between primary items in a shopping cart and secondary items in the shopping cart, where secondary items are items that normally accompany the purchase of primary items. The server that provides the on-line shopping service awaits a shopper's commands. When a command is detected that indicates a change in an attribute of a primary item, the server checks the shopper's shopping cart to identify secondary items linked to the primary item whose attribute was changed. If a secondary item linked to the primary item is identified, the server then solicits the shopper's authorization to change a corresponding attribute of the secondary item. If the shopper grants authorization, the server changes the corresponding attribute of the secondary item accordingly. An item's attribute may be the quantity of the item in a shopping cart, the size of the item, the color of the item, the texture of the item, and so forth.

  • Patent number: 7100256
Abstract: A method for converting a dump truck body into an improved truck body. The dump truck body is configured for hauling a payload and has a canopy, a floor, two sidewalls, and a front wall. In a preferred embodiment, the method comprises: if the dump truck body has a tailgate, removing the tailgate; extending the floor to the rear by adding a floor extension component at a floor angle approximately ten degrees greater than a pre-conversion floor angle; increasing the height of the sidewalls by adding two fabricated sidewall attachment components; and tying the sidewall extensions into the rear of the floor extension component by adding a fabricated component. Preferably, a material dam is incorporated into the canopy forward of the front wall to form a shelf that is configured to retain and balance the payload.

  • Patent number: 7047213
Abstract: An improved method for purging abandoned shopping carts from an electronic commerce web server. Periodically, the number of shopping carts that belong to guest shoppers is determined and compared with a threshold. When the number shopping carts that belong to guest shoppers exceeds the threshold, a guest shopper garbage collection routine applies to the shopping carts that belong to guest shoppers, and an established shopper garbage collection routine applies to carts that belong to established shoppers. In one embodiment of the invention, the guest shopper garbage collection routine purges shopping carts that have been inactive for a first period of time, whereas the established shopper garbage collection routine purges shopping carts that have been inactive for a second period of time that is longer than the first.

  • Patent number: 6308247
Abstract: A page table entry management method and apparatus provide the Microkernel System with the capability to program the memory management unit on the PowerPC family of processors. The PowerPC processors define a limited set of page table entries (PTEs) to maintain virtual to physical mappings. The page table entry management method and apparatus solves the problem of a limited number of PTEs by segment aliasing when two or more user processes share a segment of memory. The segments are aliased rather than duplicating the PTES. This significantly reduces the number of PTEs. In addition, the method provides for caching existing PTEs when the system actually runs out of PTEs. A cache of recently discarded PTEs provides a fast fault resolution when a recently used page is accessed again.

  • Patent number: 4114275
Abstract: Foot controller apparatus is characterized by providing for remote foot control by a minimum size foot pedal device of the flow of compressed air to an air driven dental handpiece or the like without the necessity of bulky air lines passing through or the incorporation of complicated electrical or mechanical mechanisms in the foot pedal device, as follows. An outwardly biased, depressible foot pedal device includes a diaphragm therein for forming an air sealed chamber which reduces in volume upon depression of the foot pedal device and conveys an air flow through an elongate tube to a diaphragm operated, air modulating, regulator valve positioned away from the foot pedal device and in the compressed air conduit leading to the dental handpiece for pneumatically operating the valve to control the flow of compressed air to the dental handpiece for driving same.
