  • Publication number: 20230144420
Abstract: An animal rescue vault for use inside a pool skimmer well that comprises a multi-legged vault formed of a pliable mesh material and presenting a gradual ramped crown leading upward to a raised peak. The ramped crown is surrounded by sides and elevate atop multiple legs, which presents an island to a struggling animal that raises abruptly then more gradually out of the water vortex. The mesh sides and ramp of the device are easy for the swirling animal to grasp, and yet the mesh construction does not interfere with the recirculation vortex. The device fits in existing skimmers without replacing existing parts.

  • Patent number: 11185428
Abstract: A fixation assembly for attaching a prosthetic leg and foot combination directly to an external ring fixation assembly via a protective socket, and yet allow full adjustment of length and offset, protection of the residual stump when in use, and quick-disconnect of the socket when not in use. The device is meant for use with any existing external fixation ring assembly for fixation to a femur or tibia, and any prosthetic leg/foot combination. The fixation assembly generally includes a molded concave socket having a mounting base at its apex for mounting the prosthetic leg/foot, an articulating ring adjustably attached to the socket, and a plurality of struts there between. Each strut has a first locking pivot joint at one end pivotally attached to the articulating ring and a second locking pivot joint at an opposing end pivotally attached to the rim of the socket. The articulating ring is removably attached to the external ring fixation assembly by a plurality of detent pins for releasable attachment.

  • Patent number: 9301859
Abstract: A foreshortened prosthesis comprising a socket, an adapter attached distally to said socket, and a foot attached to the adapter. The foot comprises a lower base plate formed as a flat peripherally-curvilinear member fixedly attached to the adapter and defining a short toe, a longer heel, and an instep there between. In addition, an upper slide plate is sandwiched between the adapter and lower base plate, but is not otherwise attached to the lower base. The upper slide plate is smaller and narrower than the lower base plate and slides there against under the weight of a heel strike, thereby serving as a leaf spring damper and suspension to smooth ambulation. This provides a BAK amputee with a more comfortable and natural gait, at a suitable angle and orientation, with smooth and comfortable flex relative to the direction of travel.

  • Patent number: 8252066
Abstract: A pyramid receptacle for coupling a prosthetic limb to a socket, comprising a unitary machined component formed with an externally-threaded neck section flanged by a larger-diameter disk. The disk is formed with a concave face, and a central cavity. A plurality of threaded set screws are journalled into the hollow threaded neck section through the threads thereof and into communication with the central cavity. Machining the threaded holes for the plurality of set screws directly through the hollow threaded neck section, and ensuring that the set screws stay flush or recessed when fully tightened effectively halves the length of the pyramid receptacle and facilitates angular adjustment of the prosthetic limb before affixing it in place, but does not significantly increase the profile length of the interconnection between socket and knee joint.
