  • Patent number: 5516063
Abstract: A boiler tube clamp assembly and a method of forming the clamp assembly. The clamp assembly includes two identical elongated clamp halves which coact in their assembled relation to define a series of axially spaced openings to pass respective tubes and further define first and second passages extending axially along the respective side edges of the assembled clamp halves. The assembly further includes first and second locking rods respectively slidably received in the first and second passages and acting to maintain the clamp halves in their assembled relation. Each clamp half includes an axially spaced series of first slots opening in one side edge of the clamp half with a series of first land portions positioned respectively between the slots and further includes a series of second axially spaced slots opening the other side edge of the clamp half with a series of second land portions positioned respectively therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5477010
Abstract: A safety plate assembly for use with a conventional electric outlet of the type adapted to be fitted in a panel opening and including an outlet box and an outlet mounted in the box and including a receptacle defining a pair of sockets receiving the prongs of an electric plug. The assembly includes an annular mounting plate of open frame configuration positioned against the panel in surrounding relation to the opening and a cover plate positioned over the mounting plate and lockingly secured thereto by coacting locking finger and tab on the plates. A slide is mounted on the cover plate for movement between a safety position in which slide apertures overlie solid portions of the cover plate and an operative position in which the slide apertures are aligned with open areas of the cover plate and with the sockets of the receptacle so as to allow the prongs of the electric plug to be passed through the slide apertures and through the open areas of the cover plate for insertion in the receptacle sockets.

  • Patent number: 5474123
Abstract: A tube shield for protecting the tubes of heat exchangers, such as boilers and condensers, from hostile elements. The tube shield includes an axially elongated arcuate protector member and a plurality of spring clips secured to the axial free edges of the protector member at spaced locations along the length of the protector member. The spring clips are sized and configured such that they splay outwardly as the protector member is pressed downwardly over an associated tube to pass the maximum diameter of the tube and thereafter move inwardly in a spring biased manner to bitingly engage the exposed portion of the tube to preclude inadvertent separation of the protector from the tube.

  • Patent number: 5425543
Abstract: A seal assembly for use in precluding leakage of hot combustion products along the shaft of a rotating heat exchanger wheel utilized in a power plant. The seal assembly includes a housing positioned in surrounding relation to the shaft and defining an annular chamber around the shaft having an inboard end and an outboard end; a positive annular fluid seal with the shaft proximate the outboard end of the chamber; and a leakage annular fluid seal with the shaft proximate the inboard end of the chamber. The positive annular fluid seal comprises a packing ring surrounding the shaft and an annular bladder positioned in surrounding relation to the packing ring and constrained against radial enlargement so that the bladder expands radially inwardly in response to receipt of pressurized fluid to urge the packing ring into sealing engagement with the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5321859
Abstract: An infant bath chair adapted to be positioned in a bathtub to facilitate bathing of the infant. The chair includes a base adapted to be positioned on the bottom of the bathtub and defining a seat; a seatback having a lower end pivotally mounted on the base proximate the rear edge of the seat; a U-shaped cage having a pair of arm portion pivotally mounted at their rear ends on the base rearwardly of the seatback pivot axis and a forward bight portion embracing an infant positioned on the seat; and a latch assembly interconnecting the seatback and the cage arm portions and releasable in response to upward pivotal movement of the cage to allow adjusting pivotal movement of the seatback relative to the base. The latch assembly includes an arcuate slot on each of the arms centered on the pivot axis of the seatback and a plurality of notches positioned serially along each arcuate slot on the side of the slot remote from the seatback pivot axis and opening in the respective slot.

  • Patent number: 5094292
Abstract: A tube shield and a method of providing shielding for tubes. The tube shield is provided in a cane or J-configuration, including an upper hook portion and a sheet portion, and a U or drape configuration, including an upper hook portion and a pair of spaced sheet portions extending downwardly from the hook portion in a parallel spaced relation. In both shields, spacer means are provided in the form of embossed protuberances of generally hemispherical configuration extending outwardly from the general plane of the sheet portions at spaced locations on the sheet portions. In the assembled relation of the shields in a tube installation, cane shields are hooked over the outboard rows of tubes and drape shields are hooked over the inboard rows of tube with the protuberances on the sheet portions of the tubes maintaining the sheet portions of the adjacent shields in positive spaced relation.

  • Patent number: 5065972
Abstract: A protective bumper which can be removably mounted on the corners and edges of furniture and the like. The bumper comprises a resilient bumper portion having an interior surface which is configured to provide an air space between the bumper and the corner which it protects to act as a shock absorber, reducing the risk of injury to a person colliding therewith and damage to the table if you hit it with, for example, the vacuum cleaner. The bumper portion is provided with first, second and third mounting flaps which mold and adhere to the surface of a table. Two end flaps formed on the third mounting flap fold to adhere to the first and second mounting flaps, thereby reinforcing their attachment to the furniture surface.

  • Patent number: 5017148
Abstract: A safety cover apparatus for an electrical outlet being secured to the face plate screw. The safety cover comprising a pair of safety plugs and a tether connecting the two safety plugs together. Each plug has a plug face plate and a pair of prongs integrally attached to the plug face plate. The tether has an aperture located halfway between the two safety plugs so the safety cover screw can be used to attach the device to the outlet. The length of the tether allows the safety plug to be folded over the tether as to dispose the tether between the prongs and the prongs in the terminals of an electrical socket. The fold is operative in removing the plug from the socket.

  • Patent number: 4894870
Abstract: A latch mechanism for a hinged cover such as a toilet cover comprising a base which is mounted on the bowl of the toilet, a latch bar which is pivotally mounted on the base and movable between a horizontal position which interferringly overlies as the toilet cover and a raised position which permits raising of the cover, and locking means which must be released to allow the latch bar to be moved to its raised or entry-authorized position. In one embodiment of the invention, the base is mounted on the ceramic structure of the toilet between the cover and the wafer closet, and the locking means comprises an element which depends pivotally from the latch bar and has dog-leg portions with feet which swing under a portion of the base to prevent the latch bar from being raised.
