  • Patent number: 9107032
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for implementation in a wireless communication system including a plurality of base stations, a plurality of gateways, and a plurality of mobility management entities. The method includes receiving, at a first mobility management entity and from a first base station, measurement data collected by the first base station for a first mobile unit having a connection to the wireless communication system via the first base station. The measurement data includes a temporary identifier associated with the first mobile unit for the duration of the connection. The method also includes identifying the first mobile unit using the temporary identifier and forming a first record associated with the first mobile unit. The first record includes the measurement data collected by the first base station for the first mobile unit and previously collected measurement data for the first mobile unit.

  • Patent number: 8159950
Abstract: Methods and computer readable mediums are provided for determining the processor occupancy of a cluster of HLR registers. A deterministic-based performance model is utilized to determine the processor occupancy based on a number of nodes in the cluster, a number of call attempts per unit time, a number of autonomous registrations, a processor utilization for processing each call attempt and a processor utilization for processing each autonomous registration. The models may be utilized to determine the processor occupancy of each node in the cluster if a selected number of HLR nodes are utilized, such that an iterative process may be employed to select a number of HLR nodes in order for each HLR node to operate under a node processor occupancy threshold.

  • Patent number: 5309501
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for providing cellular mobile telecommunication service in accordance with the requirements of the Global Systems for Mobile Communications (GSM) standard. A modular switching system is provided which performs the functions of the mobile switching center plus those of a home location register, authentication center, visitor location register, and equipment identity register. The latter functions are advantageously spread among the modules of the switching system, thus avoiding the getting started cost of expensive dedicated data bases. A wireless global switching module advantageously switches mobile communications control messages among the modules of the system and between the modules and the base station systems, and terminates signaling links between the mobile switching center and the base station systems.
