  • Patent number: 6224873
Abstract: Materials derived from Citrus plants can be administered orally to humans for the purpose of producing or maintaining weight loss as well as for improving the person's physical performance and increasing the person's lean muscle mass. The Citrus materials include those portions of the plant that are normally considered waste or inedible, such as the leaves, peel, and immature, unripe fruit. The materials contain at least one of the alkaloids from the group consisting of synephrine, hordenine, octopamine, tyramine and N-methyltyramine (1). Two species, Citrus aurantium and Citrus reticulata, are particularly useful. The materials can be administered in their natural form or as extracts, and can be administered in various ways including capsules and tablets. The Citrus materials may also be used as a tea. For weight loss and weight control, the materials can be administered concurrently with caloric restriction or in the absence of caloric restriction.

  • Patent number: 5645666
Abstract: To manufacture a lens-retainer subassembly for an instrument cluster, a lens is cut from a flat acrylic sheet by a laser operation, and the resulting flat lens is pressed against the curved surface of a retainer by ultrasonic welding apparatus and bonded to the perimeter of the retainer. The retainer surface and a welding horn are shaped to conform to the desired lens shape and to portions of the retainer so that as the horns are moved together the lens will be squeezed between two complementary curved surfaces into the desired shape, and the welding fixes the lens shape.

  • Patent number: 4373958
Abstract: A two-part road base stabilization mix consists of lime kiln dust made from non-dolomitic or high calcium limestone having 10% or less magnesium oxide in the final product, is combined with an aggregate employing from 3 to 30% by weight of lime kiln dust, and the remaining weight consisting of aggregate.

  • Patent number: 4040852
Abstract: A lightweight aggregate for use in concrete mixes with Portland cement consists essentially of bottom ash produced as a by-product of burning pulverized coal in a dry-bottom furnace. The ash is sized to remove particles substantially exceeding 3/8 inch in diameter. It is substantially free of iron pyrites and sulfur trioxide to provide a lightweight aggregate which is inert, non-reactive, and meets the requirements for such aggregate as defined in ASTM specifications C-330, C-331 and C-332. Methods of producing this aggregate material are disclosed, including a method for recovering the same from the waste product ash in a power plant sluicing pond. Concrete mixes and products are disclosed in which such ash consists of the lightweight aggregate.
