  • Patent number: 5186508
Abstract: An extender assembly is provided for the lifting foot of a mobile crane used to lift trailers and the like. The extender is comprised of left and right extender pads attached to and spaced apart along a frame such that when the frame is rotatably coupled to the lifting foot via a clevis joint, the extender pads are disposed adjacent each side of the food pad. The lifting foot is capable of being used with the extender pads in either the raised or lowered position depending on the access for foot pad engagement available on the trailer being lifted. The extender assembly is adapted to allow it to be maintained in the raised position once it is manually placed therein and to be automatically rotated into the lowered position by resting the lifting foot on the ground.

  • Patent number: 5172121
Abstract: A system is provided for automatic identification of objects, such as rail cars and the like, utilizing two transponders, each attached to the rail car by a bracket. The bracket, which is welded along its ends to the rail car, has a lower planar surface which is placed against the side of the rail car when the bracket is welded thereto. A bottom planar surface of the transponder mates with an upper planar surface of the bracket, thus ensuring a good conduction heat flow path to the rail car and preventing over heating of the transponder when the rail car is placed in a thaw shed. The transponder is attached to the bracket by inserting a flange formed one end of the transponder under a clip projecting from the upper surface of the bracket. A threaded stud projecting upward from the bracket upper surface extends through a hole in a second flange formed at the other end of the transponder.

  • Patent number: 4946324
Abstract: A railroad car adapted to receive at least one container from a truck positioned along the railroad car includes a deck mounted on wheels and at least one turntable rotatably mounted on the deck. The turntable includes a pair of spaced, parallel guide tracks which can slidably receive and support a container. A shuttle bar extends transversely across and is slidably mounted on the deck. The shuttle bar is connected to the turntable so that sliding movement of the shuttle bar rotates the turntable between a position in which the guide tracks extend longitudinally along the deck and a position in which the guide tracks extend across the width of the deck. The shuttle bar has hooks on its ends which can be engaged by a bail on the truck to allow the truck to move the shuttle bar and thus rotate the turntable.
