Publication number: 20220159836Abstract: A connector assembly includes a housing, a circuit board, and a plurality of cables, each including a plurality of conductors. The circuit board is disposed in a cavity of the housing and includes an upper major surface, an opposing lower major surface, a front edge, and a rear edge opposite the front edge. The circuit board includes conductive front pads disposed on the upper and lower major surfaces proximate the front edge, and conductive rear pads disposed on the upper and lower major surfaces proximate the rear edge and electrically connected to the front pads. The rear pads form first and second rows of rear pads on each of the upper and lower major surfaces, with the first row disposed proximate the rear edge and the second row disposed between the first row and the front pads. The plurality of conductors are terminated at the first and second rows of the rear pads on the upper and lower major surfaces.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2020Publication date: May 19, 2022Inventors: Steven A. Publication number: 20220102919Abstract: An electrical connector assembly includes a housing and a circuit board. The housing includes opposing top and bottom walls and opposing first and second sidewalls connecting the top and bottom walls. The circuit board is at least partially disposed in the housing. The circuit board includes an upper surface and an opposing lower surface. The circuit board further includes a plurality of conductive rear pads disposed on the upper and lower surfaces. A separation between the rear pads disposed on the upper surface and the top wall of the housing is greater than a separation between the rear pads disposed on the lower surface and the bottom wall of the housing. Opposing first and second sidewall extensions extend upwardly from the opposing respective first and second sidewalls of the housing and define an open top channel therebetween that extends uninterrupted between the opposing first and second sidewall extensions.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 4, 2020Publication date: March 31, 2022Inventor: Dennis L. Patent number: 10665368Abstract: A cable support for receiving and supporting a cable that includes a plurality of conductors extending along the length of the cable and arranged along the width of the cable, includes: a cane-shaped base having a substantially straight base portion and a curved base portion. The cane-shaped base includes a cable-side major surface and an opposing back-side major surface. At least a first portion of the back-side major surface in the curved base portion faces a second portion of the back-side major surface in the straight base portion. A plurality of discrete spaced apart side walls are disposed on the cable-side major surface along each longitudinal edge of the cane-shaped base. At least one side wall is disposed on the straight base portion and at least one side wall is disposed on the curved base portion.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2019Date of Patent: May 26, 2020Assignee: 3M Innovative Properties CompanyInventor: Dennis L. Patent number: 8770990Abstract: A plug style connector has an outer connector housing with an internal passage which accommodates a cable assembly. A plurality of multi-wire cables extend through a wire organizer that arranges the cables in a preselected arrangement. Exposed free ends of the conductors of the wires are terminated to multiple circuit boards which are separated in a preselected spacing by a spacer member. The spacer member and wire organizer have flat opposing surfaces that define boundaries of a body portion formed by the application of a hot melt to the cables, the hot melt adheres to the wire organizer and the spacer to hold the cable wires and their associated circuit boards in place for correct insertion into the connector housing.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2011Date of Patent: July 8, 2014Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventors: Peter H. Sytsma, Dennis L. Doye, Bruce A. Reed, John Reginald Crane, Brian Keith Lloyd, Keith Lang
