  • Patent number: 7469718
Abstract: A generally cylindrical quick disconnect female cryogenic coupler, interconnected with a cryogenic fluid transfer apparatus, includes a coupler body with a first cavity housing a laterally severed tubular bushing, an adaptor having one end attached to the coupler body and another end to the apparatus, a normally closed-biased valve between the coupler body and the adaptor, a coupling sleeve, attached to the coupler body having, a frusto-conical inlet portion, and a vent fitting having one end connected with a coupling sleeve radial aperture and another end in operative connection with a cryogenic fluid storage vessel, associated with the noted apparatus, to permit the inlet purging by using the vessel's own gaseous phase as a purging medium during liquid fluid transfer operation. The severed bushing inhibits ice formation, at an inlet/male nipple interface during the noted transfer. A method for purging moisture at the noted interface is also set forth.

  • Publication number: 20070202127
Abstract: The present invention relates to peptides which exhibit potent anti-retroviral activity. The peptides of the invention comprise DP178 (SEQ ID:1) peptide corresponding to amino acids 638 to 673 of the HIV-1LAI gp41 protein, and fragments, analogs and homologs of DP178. The invention further relates to the uses of such peptides as inhibitory of human and non-human retroviral, especially HIV, transmission to uninfected cells.

  • Publication number: 20060161086
Abstract: An apparatus is shown for applying a traction force to a body member of a patient. The apparatus includes a columnar support coupling a lower arm to an upper arm. The columnar support has a fine adjustment mechanism for incrementally adjusting the distance between the lower arm and the upper arm along a central axis of the columnar support, wherein the distance corresponds to the traction force applied to the body member. The columnar support includes a plurality of sections that may be folded or separated for storage or transport. An attachment assembly, coupled to the upper arm, secures to one or more appendages in communication with the body member. A restraining element, coupled to the lower arm, secures to an opposing side of the body member such that the restraining element and the attachment assembly distribute the traction force to the body member upon actuation of the fine adjustment mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6333395
Abstract: The present invention relates to peptides which exhibit potent anti-retroviral activity. The peptides of the invention comprise DP178 (SEQ ID NO:1) peptide corresponding to amino acids 638 to 673 of the HIV-1LAI gp41 protein, and fragments, analogs and homologs of DP178. The invention further relates to the uses of such peptides as inhibitory of human and non-human retroviral, especially HIV, transmission to uninfected cells.
