Abstract: Tyramine containing hydroxycinnamic acid amide derivatives are provided as are methods of using the same in modulating metabolism and addressing the underlying pathogenesis of metabolic disorders, such as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and type II diabetes mellitus.

Abstract: A system for determining isotopic composition of a gaseous sample. The system includes at least one gas chromatograph for separating the gaseous sample into gaseous components. Furthermore, the system includes a combustion furnace operatively coupled with the at least one gas chromatograph for oxidizing the gaseous components. Moreover, the system includes a water separator operatively coupled with the combustion furnace. Furthermore, the system includes an isotope-ratio mass spectrometer operatively coupled with the water separator. Moreover, the isotope-ratio mass spectrometer comprises an ion source for generating ion beams associated with each of the oxidized gaseous components and a mass analyser for receiving the generated ion beams from the ion source, wherein the mass analyser is operable to determine isotopic concentrations associated with each of the ion beams.

Abstract: A momentum altering system comprises a transportation device configured to transport the momentum altering system towards an object moving through water. An engagement device is configured to attach to the object when the momentum altering system is transported sufficiently near the object. At least one decelerating device is connected to the engagement device. At least one decelerating device is deployed by the engagement device after the engagement device attached to the object. At least one decelerating device includes a plurality of parachute sea anchors that produce drag when pulled though water thereby altering momentum of the object.

Abstract: An apparatus for the preparation of hydrocarbons for mass spectrographic analysis by their conversion into carbon dioxide. The apparatus uses an isothermic environment for chromatography in conjunction with separate columns tuned to isolate specific hydrocarbons. The apparatus includes a valve block (2), sample extractor (3), sample injector, carrier gas source (10), gas chromatograph (5), combustion furnace (6), water separator (7) open split (8), mass spectormeter (9), reference gas source (10A), and reference gas injector (11).
