  • Publication number: 20070198165
Abstract: A method for an accelerator pedal safety in a vehicle with an internal combustion engine having an Electronic Control Unit, (ECU), said method comprising: starting the engine; determining whether the engine is running; determining whether there is a request for additional torque; determining whether an inhibit is enabled; determining whether the vehicle speed is above a preset threshold; enabling the accelerator pedal torque request; and, logging a fault in the ECU and enabling the appropriate lamps or visual fault indicators.

  • Publication number: 20070192012
Abstract: A method and system for controlling a compression ignition electronic control module equipped compression ignition internal combustion engine installed in a vehicle to provide enhanced vehicle road speed limiting to conform to requirements of a geographical location.

  • Publication number: 20060169136
Abstract: A method and system for preventing or minimizing false back pressure faults caused by a new particulate filter in an engine exhaust system. When a new particulate filter is placed in an engine exhaust system, the normal back pressure threshold for the fault detection system is increased by a new filter offset amount. Back pressure faults at the normal level are not recorded for a limited period of engine operation and only records back pressure faults that exceed the normal back pressure threshold by the value of the new filter offset.

    Publication date: August 3, 2006
    Applicant: Detroit Diesel Corporation
    Inventors: Richard Avery, Dennis Letang
  • Patent number: 6941219
Abstract: An engine control module, and method for operating the same for controlling an internal combustion engine. The engine control module comprising a processor for executing instructions to controlled the engine. The engine control module partitioning its memory used to store calibration data. The memory is partitioned into user-changeable and non-user-changeable portions. Only the user-changeable portions are repeatedly backed up. These portions are backed up such that the engine control module can recreate valid calibration data when a memory failure has occured and the engine control module.
