  • Publication number: 20240125719
Abstract: A defined peak region residing between about 3.2 and 3.4 ppm of a proton NMR spectrum of an in vitro biosample is electronically evaluated to determine a level of trimethylamine-N-oxide (“TMAO”). The biosample may be any suitable biosamples including human serum with a normal biologic range of between about 1-50 ?M or urine with a normal biologic range of between about 0-1000 ?M.

  • Publication number: 20240096497
Abstract: Methods, systems and circuits evaluate a subject's risk of developing type 2 diabetes or developing or having prediabetes using at least one defined mathematical model of risk of progression that can stratify risk for patients having the same glucose measurement. The model may include NMR derived measurements of GlycA and a plurality of selected lipoprotein components of at least one biosample of the subject.

  • Patent number: 5272084
Abstract: The disclosed invention relates generally to laboratory ware, and specifically to laboratory ware and method for cultivating biological cell cultures within the laboratory ware. Cell culture vessels are disclosed providing enhanced cell yields for epithelial-like cell lines, and a more in-vivo like cell growing environment for fibroblast-like cell lines. A representative flask and dish including a plurality of grooves, or valleys, residing between ridges substantially covering the interior of preferably the bottom wall of the flask and dish is disclosed. The preferred ridges have a radius between 0.1 and 0.5 millimeters and range from 0.2 to 2.0 millimeters in height, and are spaced apart from each other within the range of 0.2 to 2.5 millimeters.

  • Patent number: 5267791
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to laboratory apparatus and more particularly to disposable suspended magnetic stirrers. An apparatus having a stirring vessel closure and a stirring vessel is disclosed. The stirring vessel closure includes a suspended magnetic impeller, the elevation of which is adjustable by a moveable bearing. The invention is particularly suitable for applications in which solids must be suspended in a liquid medium with a minimum of shear forces, such as in the suspension of tissue cell cultures in a growing medium. The disclosed stirring vessel closure has inclined access ports to allow improved pipette accessibility to the interior of the stirring vessel while also providing improved close packing of stirring vessels during usage or storage.

  • Patent number: 4763804
Abstract: A novel closure and container assembly is disclosed which provides for the definite and positive positioning of the closure on the container in a predetermined semi-open positionment. The container is provided with a rim portion which extends within a plane perpendicular to the axis of the cylindrical neck portion of the container and has a tapered surface lying within a cone concentric with such axis, whereas the closure is also provided with a tapered surface lying within a surface of a cone concentric with such axis so that upon the threading of the closure onto the container the surfaces engage each other within the surface of a cone lying concentric to the axis of the cylindrical neck portion and create a binding action which positions the closure in its predetermined semi-open positionment on the container. A further twisting of the closure allows the closure to sealably engage the container.

  • Patent number: 4512666
Abstract: The present invention relates to suspended magnetic stirrers. More particularly, it discloses a stirrer having a suspended magnetic impeller, the height of which is adjusted by a movable bearing. The invention is particularly useful in applications where solids must be suspended in a liquid medium with a minimum of shear force, such as in microcarrier tissue cell culture.
