  • Publication number: 20190383486
Abstract: A method of controlling operation of a furnace having a pre-mixed burner, a heat exchanger, and an inducer blower downstream of the heat exchanger includes monitoring a pressure drop across the heat exchanger. The speed of the inducer blower is controlled in response to the monitored pressure drop to thereby control mass flow through the furnace.

  • Publication number: 20070292810
Abstract: A heating appliance control system that includes a pilot flame assembly, a main burner assembly, a gas valve, and a controller. The pilot flame assembly includes a pilot flame burner and at least one pilot flame sensor. The main burner assembly includes a main burner. The gas valve is coupled to the pilot flame and main flame burners. The controller is configured to control the variable gas valve in response to signals received from the pilot and main burner sensors. The controller is also configured to monitor a pilot flame at the pilot flame burner with the pilot flame sensor to confirm the presence of the pilot flame before activating the variable gas valve to supply gas to the main burner.

  • Publication number: 20060185666
Abstract: A heating appliance includes an outer enclosure including a transparent front panel, a combustion chamber enclosure, and a variable speed blower. The combustion chamber enclosure is positioned within the outer enclosure and defines a combustion chamber wherein radiant heat is generated. The combustion chamber enclosure also includes a transparent front panel. The blower is configured to generate an adjustable airflow between the outer enclosure front panel and the combustion chamber enclosure front panel and to exhaust the airflow to a remote location. The airflow absorbs at least some of the radiant heat and varying a speed of the blower controls an amount of radiant heat transferred from the combustion chamber to a living space in which the heating appliance is exposed.

  • Publication number: 20050166909
Abstract: A fireplace venting assembly configured to vent a heating source combustion chamber. The venting assembly includes first, second and third panels. The first panel includes a first opening formed therein. The second panel includes a second opening formed therein and is spaced apart from the first panel to define a first venting chamber that is in fluid communication with the combustion chamber. The third panel includes a vent pipe opening formed therein and is spaced apart from the second panel to define a second venting chamber that is in fluid communication with the first venting chamber. The venting assembly also includes a device that is configured to provide a vacuum force at the vent pipe opening to draw air from the combustion chamber through the first and second venting chambers and out the vent pipe opening.

  • Patent number: 6672012
Abstract: A gutter cover for directing the flow of rainwater from a building roof into a gutter mounted to the peripheral edge thereof while preventing debris such as leaves and twigs from entering and clogging the gutter. The cover is secured to the roof of the building such that rainwater flowing down the shingles will flow across the cover at the bottom roof line. A lower end of the cover has an arcuate nose disposed substantially above the outer edge of the gutter. The surface of the gutter is treated with one or more combinations of coatings and/or substrate textures to slow the flow of water while improving flow to the cover surface. Rainwater will flow around the arcuate nose into the gutter while debris carried by the rainwater is expelled outwardly over the edge of the gutter.

  • Patent number: 6634352
Abstract: A venting system for a direct vent fireplace or other direct vent appliance to direct combustion gases to an exterior area. The direct venting vent pipe facilitates unrestricted lengths of pipe installations. The vent pipe has a double wall construction forming an interior axial passageway and a coaxial outer passageway. The double walls are spaced apart by an insert to maintain coaxial spacing. Sections of the vent pipe are lockingly connected to prevent separation and ensure sealing connection between the pipe sections. Elastic seal members are utilized between the matingly connected sections and a mechanical lock assembly prevents separation.
