  • Publication number: 20130327720
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved water treatment process that operates on a continuous flow of fluids that are subjected to hydrodynamic waves, acoustic ultrasonic waves in combination with injected ozone and electro chemical treatment. The treatment system provides a cost efficient and environmentally friendly process and apparatus for cleaning and recycling fluids as contaminated as frac water, used to stimulate gas production from shale formations, as well as other types of fluids having various levels of contaminants such as aerobic and anaerobic bacteria and suspended solids. The calcium carbonate scaling tendency is reduced to an acceptable level without the use of acids, ion exchange materials, or anti scaling chemicals which is of economical and environmental significance and benefit.

  • Patent number: 8593102
Abstract: A self-sustaining, portable, power station that may be moved by land, air, or sea to an area that has no utilities. The station is provided with solar panel arrays in communication with at least one electrical distribution and storage means. The derived electricity is used to power various systems including, albeit not limited to, a communications system, a water filtration system, a water distribution system to allow the public to draw potable water and provide basic hygiene. The electricity derived may also be used to run outside systems, such as schools, hospitals, or the like. The solar panel arrays are mounted on roller assemblies that can be easily slide between a stowed and deployed condition. The solar arrays include a plurality of solar panels that are supported by one or more hydraulic actuators to counter balance the weight of the solar panel whereby the solar panel can be easily positioned into the desired tilted orientation.

  • Publication number: 20120018386
Abstract: Ozone/oxygen gas is mixed with treated seawater at 30% quality foam and injected to the wellhead at the sea floor. At the seafloor, a tank mixing eductor would be used to mix high pressure oxygen bubbles with the oil contaminated seawater by shearing the oil globs into small oil droplets allowing the new surface area to immediately react with the dissolved ozone/oxygen in the seawater. The ozone/oxygen admixture creating an attraction force between the droplets and the oxygen bubbles. As the droplets and bubble rise, they form larger spherical top-hat bubbles that rise faster in the seawater. In the preferred embodiment, the eductor employs a cone shape flow to direct a significant amount of the oil plume into a predictable area that can then be skimmed mechanically for harvesting or destruction.

  • Publication number: 20110259761
Abstract: An apparatus and method for reducing the scaling tendency of fracture-treatment flow back water and oil field brine by the precipitation of hardness salts using carbon dioxide as a carbonate donor. The apparatus includes a treatment conduit comprised of a plurality of segments. The treatment conduit includes a plurality of anode surfaces, a plurality of heated cathode surfaces each associated with an ultrasonic transducer and an arrangement for injecting carbon dioxide into the stream of raw water. The injection of carbon dioxide from an external source helps to reduce the pH of the water and to prevent scaling by softening the water thereby eliminating the use of HCL at the frac job site. The treatment conduit further includes a plurality of static mixers each creating hydrodynamic cavitation thereby facilitating better mixing of the carbon dioxide and higher mass transfer efficiency.
